I had one put in when they did my left orchiectomy on the 13th. I could not be happier with it. Its not the "unnatural" weird "thing" that some people discribe. At least mine is not. Frankly I was shocked a bit because I thought it might be. If your surgeon is not "cool" with implants seek out a different doctor who is. You don't want anyone who is not 100% doing it (My opinion)

I'm going to sound like a shill for AART because I've mentioned them before but I AM really just a patient and I do think its a great "Appliance" as my surgeon calls it. And while mine was the first he has done (He is a mentor man) he said he would suggest it to future patients. I like that it is not filled with water (or anything) its solid. Nothing to leak. And it comes in adult sizes. Mine is a 31cc device which my surgeon said "Large but not abnormally so" So, its not like Pamala Anderson's Boob job but it sure has not hurt me self esteam either.

Congrats on the good news it must be a real weight off your mind.

With regards to the prosthetic i'd say it comes down to confidence and generally how you feel. If you are totally comfortable with only haivng one, and happy with it how it looks and feels then i wouldn't bother putting yourself through yet another operation to have a fake one fitted.
I had a fake one fitted when i was around 21 (haivng been born with only 1), but i haven't bothered, and have no intention of having, another one fitted now i've lost my remaining testicle. Fact is I'm in a happy relationship and i am perfectly comfortable being the little bit lighter down there.

But should you decide to have a fake one fitted then don't worry about it, it isn't a big procedure and is no worse really than having one removed.

I thought about you today Nick. In 6 weeks I'm going to be playing some golf in St. Lucia, so to get ready I went to the driving range. Well guess what one wicked slice and a ball was gone. .

Nick- I thought I would share a little story with you.... When my husband found out he had to have his testie removed the doctor asked if he wanted a replacement also. He also mention to my husband most men he has done surgery on decline a replacement. Of course he mention the he has never heard anyone say the felt uneven/unbalanced because they were missing a testie. Our insurance would not cover the replacement and when my husband ask how much was it the doctor mention it was 2000 dollars. My husband then laughs hard and then tells him.. I am not planning on doing any nude modeling so I think I am safe with just 1 of my boys. We both decided if at any time my husband felt the need for the replacement he could get one with no questions asked or guilty for spending that kind of money. when I just asked him about it he said he has forgotten that he only had 1 nut!

If you search this site you can find tons of info on replacements. It's not as uncommon as your doctor might think.

    Nick:
The next thing you may want to consider is getting an implant, it's a simple procedure. A more natural look and feel might be important to you at this stage in life.

    Thank you All!

Dadmo and Everyone on the board,

As you know, tonight we were given an incredable gift, a tremendous report. We all dreamed we'd here that word, benign, but never in our hearts did we think it would really happen. Nick has done so well through this whole ordeal and has grown so much stronger that I know he would have been a survivor with all of you but obviously were so happy we don't need to go any deeper than we already have.

Through this, one of the most important things we've been reminded of is the power of a positive, knowledgable and caring group of people. It's awesome! That group I speak of is you. Dadmo, you've gained another freind for life. I'll go to the wall with you any time, battle any battle and conquer any task because you my freind are an inspiration. We will never be able to repay you for what you've done for Nick over the last weeks but you have my number, don't ever loose it and don't ever hesitate to pick up the phone, I'll be there, no matter what, no matter when, just like you were for my son. Thank you just doesn't do it. To all of the rest of you who have been there time and time again with good words, inspration and caring for someone you never even knew, all I can say is you are all saints and we love you.

This won't be the end of it, we'll check in from time to time to see how everyone is and to be reminded of what really wonderful people do in their spare time.

To anyone who finds these words helpful.... "I believe llife is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I deal with it....Attitude" and then the final thought "you know how you eat an elephant right? One bite at a time".

Keep taking those bites and if you ever find yourself getting full and need someone with a big appetite, call me, I'll be there for you!

God Bless, Good luck and Thank you,
    PapaSloc
