  • FIRST TIME IN Husband just diognosed

My husband had lef I/O on Jan 23, 100 % embryonal with 2 metastasis in para-aortic (7 to 9 mm) and possible bone and some activity in mediastal and a 5mm in right nodes. First round of BEP ended yesterday, Sergio seems ok. Started with diarrea today . No nausea yet. Any idea what to give him to eat to avoid nausea and diarrea? Any advice will be well taken. He is a real trooper. He was Ok with Blyo, no burning. Taking Kytril for nausea, its that better than zefron (something like that) Is there anything to bring up the platlets? any food/ Well my husband is calling me Talk to you later

    Hi Rosario,
Welcome to the forum, and thanks for writing.
Zofran is usually great on the nausea, I took that combined with Atavin- and no real problems. One shot of Nuelasta a few days after each chemo cycle is over helped to stabilize my blood counts.
Where is your husband being treated?
He may be a canidate for post chemo RPLND.
This disease is highly treatable, the odds are good you will have a positive outcome.

Hi Rosario, for the nausea, my brother would take Ativan with his Compazine, and after his second round of BEP, he started using the Zofran with the Ativan, and that worked. Zofran is suppose to be great. Also on Wed of chemo week in his IV they would give him Emend. It took us almost til the end of his 4 rounds of chemo to figure out the right cocktail mix of drugs. As for the low counts, my brother would get Neuprogen shots, there is also Neulasta shots, you Dr. will let you know which one is better, but with the BEP, I think it's Neuprogen, he also just finished a round of VIP and for his counts they gave him Neulasta. Best of luck in your husbands recovery.

        Bless kytril

It worked wonders for me, but I don't see many other board members who used it.

        My nausea regimen was:

        Compazine and Ativan (together)
Emend (weekend after long chemo week)
        Kytril as needed.

I made it through all 4 BEP cycles and did not hurl once (but I Did think about it some)

I beat this thing, and I am a big ol wimp. Your husband can do it!!

When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or Fight Like Hell.
