  • Second TC diagnosis

    Hi
I have just come back from an appointment that confirmed my worst fears.
I had one testical removed 6 years ago for grade one seminoma .I have just had an ultrasound which has confirmed that the lump on my remaining testicle is malignant and its got to go.I am booked for surgery on Monday.
I have had blood tests taken to measure testosterone levels now and have an appointment tomorrow to discuss sperm banking.I am 29 married and to say I am in a state is understatement of the year.Has anyone here experianced loosing both balls.I have so many questions which are unanswered I was in a state of shock during the whole appointment. My doctor mentioned 12 weekly injections to replace testosterone do they work can you still do it do you still need to shave all the obvious. Will my wife still love me .
    thanks Garry

    Garryc:
I understand the fear and frustration but hang in there. We have several members who have had TCx2, and a wife or two of TCx2 survivors. I'm sure their guidance will help easy your anxiety.

      hope this helps

When Russell was first diagnosed, I was in the "state." Walking insanity. I was at work when one of the nurses that I have worked with for many years came up to to share her story. Her significant other of many years had testicular cancer...bilateral. She shared that he is now 60 years old. You're not alone...take care, Russell's Mom, Sharon

PS Update I wanted to add that the age of the gentleman with TC at the time of his diagnosis was 20 and that he is now 63.

Garry, be sure you ask quickly about banking sperm before your second orchiectomy. Regarding testosterone replacement, ask about gels.

right inguinal orchiectomy 6/5/2003 > nonseminoma, stage I > surveillance > L-RPLND 6/24/2005 for recurrence, suspected teratoma but found seminoma, stage II > chylous ascites until 9/2005 > surveillance and "all clear" since
