I looked at my pathology slides under the scope, and there were some sections that contained healthy-looking seminiferous tubules with cells undergoing spermatogenesis; so yes, a testicle with a tumor can still work. The issue is when the tumor starts getting bigger and hijacks the blood supply to the healthy portion. Necrosis would likely ensue due to lack of oxygen and nutrients.

I think this is hard to answer because everyone is different. I will tell you what I have been told and hope that it helps alittle.

When you have a tumor growing in the testicle, it hinders healthy sperm. I am not sure anyone could say with certainty that you could not get a woman pregnant while having a tumor inside your testicle. But I would think having a growing tumor would create low sperm count issues and mobility issues as well. But there must be some sperm in order for so many men to harvest sperm before starting chemo.

Our doctor told us that for some men, after the OT, the remaining testicle becomes much healthier and can produce as much sperm as two working testicles.

Not sure if this answers your question, but maybe it will help.

To my knowledge, a testicle with a tumor in it will still produce sperm and testosterone, which is why pre-I/O testosterone levels should be checked to create a baseline in the case that hormone replacement therapy is needed. I assume that if the tumor becomes big enough, though, that normal testicular function may be disrupted.

just want to know if there is tumor in a testis, it is possible for it to produce sperm or testerone somehow with a tumor inside? or just it stops working? or it depends on the size of the tumor? thanks
