Domenic:
We thought the world of Dr. Motzer and the direction he gave our local oncologist, your son is in good hands with him. I do have a question, what is it about your sons' case that puts him in the poor risk category? Most people on this forum have had some spread and not been put in that group.
P.S. Where are you in Jersey?

Meeting
We meet with Dr. Motzer and it went well, we really like him and we felt that we should continue the chemo in New Jersey and do the tumor removal at Sloan.
The news was a little worse that we hoped for, Alex is in the poor risk group, 5 out of 10 make it. We have a great deal of hope that he is in the best of hands and he will make it because of his strong will and good care.
He started the second round of chemo today, we shaved his head and he was dealing with it all very well.

Domenic,
This is a hard time in all your lives. Keep the faith!! God will provide.
It will be a year this month that my son shared with me news that would change our lives forever. Without my faith I don't know what I would have done. You have alot of people here who care and know exactly what you and your family are going through. Be strong. Life will get better!

Well tomorrow we go to Sloan for a meeting to determine how Alex is doing after the first round of chemo. He is also due for another shot of Blio.
He has gotten every adverse reaction they list. The worst one is the heartburn which is constant. His hair started coming out today. Through it all he has been great talking about all the junk food he is going to eat to gain back the 20 pounds he has lost. He hates junk food!
I can't tell you how much it means to read messages from other parents, you give us hope.
I hope all goes well tomorrow. My wife said she can't take any more bad news.

Thanks Dadmo,
Emend. It's weird how fast I forgot. Maybe it's a good thing!

I can't tell you how much all your support means to us. We are still trying to regulate the nausea, that is the hard part now. We are encouraged by the fact that his pain seems less since the chemo started.
It is a real comfort to hear from others who have gone through this. We have a long way to go but we are going to make it.

Domenic:
The anti nausea drug everyone is talking about is Emend, my son took it and it worked wonders. It now comes in a form that disolves in your mouth for faster relief. See if the doc's can get him some. Oh, Motzer is great, when you feel up to it he has a wonderful sense of humor. Yes you will smile and laugh again.

Hi Domenic,
I think the drug MaryEllen is thinking about is called Amend. You can take it along with the Compazine and other anti-nausea meds. Also, when my son Josh went through chemo the doc put him on Prilosac to help stop with the extra acid. That seemed to help too. I feel so bad for your son and what you as a parent are going through right now. It's so hard to watch your child suffer. He will get through this tough time and so will you. My Prayers go out to you and your son. Take care!

Domenic, I feel so bad hearing your son is vomiting...the meds should be helping, Chris also took Zofran and compazine, but he also took another med about an hour before we would go for chemo, and I will have to look back at what that was, and that seemed to help also.....tell your Dr. about his vomiting....they can try something else....I'm thinking Chris took something called Kytril, but its been awhile....keep us posted and make sure he drinks tons of water after his chemo sessions...Mary Ellen
