Everyone, thank you. Tomorrow, I'll have my PET scan. I think they just want to make sure I'm really done and no live TC cells are left. As far as complaints go, it's obvious that all of you are there to hear them and to help and comfort. I'll never be able to thank all of you enough. You are all in my heart. A good friend of mine is considering getting the Korean word for courage tattooed in honor of me (Hey Don, I'm a bit of an illustrated man, as well.) I'm also into quotations and told my friend this quote is definately how I feel. I came accross this one during this whole mess. "Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death." So when it comes to all of you, I guess I'm not the only one who knows. I guess I'm not used to complaining about being scared and sharing that feeling, so I hold back. But all of you aren't going to let me get away with that are you?
Thanks again Gang,
Mark
I know many have suffered worse than me from this disease so I shouln't really complain.
Cancer is cancer tcleft.. Yes maybe some of us have suffered a little more physically than you have, but Mentally, the toll we pay is equal no matter whether your diagnosed with 1a seminoma or 3c non seminoma.. or whether your a survivor or cosurvivor..We have all paid a pretty hefty price... Yu have every right in the world to complain..and every time you do we will be here to listen and hopefully help you as much as possible.. Congrats on the all clear and hopefully this will be the first in a long line of good news/results you will post in the coming years!!!!
I am very happy for you TCLEFT . I am wondering why you will have a pet scan if your other scan is clear. I had my all clear result in march and my onc did not send me to the pet scan and by the way the protocol for seminoma treated by chemo tell that if your scan is clear your don't need the PET.
Scott, I'd rather share good news than complain. CT scan results are in. ALL CLEAR!. PET scan to go on Monday. If it's all clear, "Me thinks I've beaten the no good [email protected]*rd".
Wow! Thank you. That truly means a lot. Intersting side note about that tattoo; they could always find a vein first stick whenever they aligned with the letters. Every place else was multiple sticks and painful. Everything does happen for a reason. Anyong yi ka ship sho; Walk in peace.
It's understandable to be sick and tired of being sick and tired. In addition the fear of the whole process can also be quite draining. Just run you hand over that Indomitable Spirit tattoo, when I see my son today I will place my hand over his Indomitable Spirit tattoo and think of you.
Thanks All. I'm anxious to get back to normal. I know many have suffered worse than me from this disease so I shouln't really complain. I guess I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired (and bald )
I am glad that chemo is over for you . I think it's a question of time before your hemo come back to normal. I had the same kind of problem during chemo but with my WBC. Don't worry for your scan i am sure everything will be ok.
TCLEFT,
Glad the chemo is over and you're on the mend. This site teaches more about TC than I could ever imagine. I hope this is the last of this for you!! Keep healing and stay strong! Best wishes!!
TCLEFT:
Transfusions are more common then you might suspect. The were within a day of giving jason one and to the onc staff it was no big deal. I know you said the hair isn't a big deal, but it really is, you should see peach fuzz by week 6 post chemo.
Well, as far as the Oncologists debate as to separate occurence or reccurence, they pretty much agree to flip a coin (they're not sure). Since I have no control either way, I've decided to just get over it and get on with it. So the good news is I'm done with my 4 cycles and awaiting the results of a CT scan and awaiting an upcoming PET scan. If the PET is clear, then so am I.
What doesn't seem to be responding is my hemaglobin to Aranesp. I'm at 7.7 as of today (pretty anemic). They up'd the dosage. If I don't respond to that, I'll need a transfusion. Any of you guys have any similar experiences? Also, how long did you wait for hair to come back? The last question isn't important, I know. But, it's nice to occupy my mind with something trivial to get it out of those other paranoias.
Thanks,
TCLEFT
