  • Hirsute Postchemo

    Hi everyone in TC-land,

Although I was dubious, my wife has convinced me that hirsute is spelled this way.

Anyway, my hair is now growing back full force after chemo. Prechemo I had an average amount of dark brown facial hair. But now, my facial hair is black and so dark that straight after a shave I appear to have a 5 O'clock shadow. I definitely did not have this before chemo.

Is this common? Anyone else had this effect? Please restrict your answers to describing hair growth above the neckline!!

On a separte topic, I hear it's pretty warm on the US East Coast. Hope everyone is managing to sleep OK. We had the hottest ever recorded UK July day yesterday at 97F - I know cool by US comparisons, but diffcult if you don't have aircon.

    Davie:
My sons initial hair growth post chemo was not what I would call normal for most humans. His first real growth were two circles of red haid on each side of his jaw, no other facial hair at all for a few weeks. That may not seem odd but he doesn't have red hair. After 2 years he's back to his normal in the hair catagory.
I think you got the spelling of hirsute correct but I'm suspicious of dubious.
Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

Treated by Dr. Rakowski of Midland Park, NJ. Visited Sloan Kettering for protocol advice. RPLND done at Sloan Kettering.
