I am very grateful to all of you on this site for the wonderful support and great advice you provided me over the last two months.
After 33 years I was diagnosed with my second TC. Honestly I was stunned.
After my surgery, I was presented with a High AFP count, nodules in my lungs, a surgeon who wanted to immediately schedule an RPLND, and in general, a rather dismal outlook.
My wife actually found this site. She began following up, and emailed Scott about my situation. Reading Scott’s message woke me up. I posted on this site, and very quickly received replies from Scott, Dadmo, Iowabrian, and many others of you. Thanks to you guys, I changed from the powerless victim to the take charge person I had become after my first round with TC.
You sent me a list of TC Specialists, I immediately scheduled a second opinion with Dr David Vaughn, at U of Pa. I reached out to Livestrong, I received Dr Lawrence Einhorn at Indiana University, I took the trip.
Based on their examination, testing and analysis, instead of recovering from an operation, I’m considered a good candidate for surveillance. I have some Chest scans and blood tests to get through this January, but I know even if they do not go as well as expected, I’m still in great care and prepared for whatever comes.
I cannot say thank you enough. There are a number of things that I’ve learned in the last few months, but probably the biggest lesson I learned is how important it is to give others a helping hand when they are going through the same thing you have. I won’t forget that this time, I promise. Thanks.
