  • 2 silicone implants - size recommended?

    Hi,

I had both testicles removed, and will be getting silicon implants soon - from MENTOR I guess.

What size would you recommend? My doctor was not concerned about it, he simply chose medium size without even looking at my "bag". What is the difference between small and large in regard of feeling comfortable?

I dont think size determines how comfortable they would be.

How are you getting the procedure done, under what type of anesthetic?

That is the interesting idea about putting just 1 in. The reasons I am doing it are:
        (1) I do not have a girlfriend and cant imagine telling a potential one about my problem before the first "sexy time" (will a girl notice a difference between 1 and 2 ?)
        (2) I do many sports (soccer, ice-hockey, etc.), which means I have to go to the shower with other guys afterwards, and I dont want some moron to notice and have fun of it

My doctor says he is not going to get them anchored. If I get just 1 which is not anchored, will it not move too much?

Michael112: I am going to have a complete anesthetic.

          Hi Uncas,

I felt compelled to respond to your question after reading some of the other posts. I am a testicular cancer survivor with two implants. I've had them since 1989 and never had a problem with them with regard to comfort or placement. They are fairly large in size and are sutured in place, but move around rather freely.

My only complaint relates to the shape and feel of the implant - it's more round and harder than a real testicle. (Back in the 80's the implants were different than those available today.) I'm actually in talks with my urologist to replace my current implants with newer, more natural looking ones. There are a few different manufacturors out there, with implants of various size and shape, so you might want to research things further before settling for whatever the doctor offers - it's your body, not his, after all.

Many here might disagree with my point of view, but I know what's best for me and I just think you should know that having 2 implants was never a problem for me. They never caused me any pain or discomfort at all. In all honesty, I wouldn't have it any other way. Two implants are are option you can entertain; I did, and they worked for me. Keep us posted on your decision, and best of luck to you...

Not one is going to notice unless they are really making an effort to look at it. And I mean really make an effort and look for it.

Well she knew about it, but recently I asked her when she can notice and when she cant, during sex she can't but visually I am asuming during oral she ment, she can.

Thinking back.... its gonna be very suspicious and akward trying to conceal it during foreplay, 69er and oral.

For me personally its made things akward trying to hide it, forcing me to limit positions. Not that women would really care but its not something you wanna have to explain to women 1st time you meet them and its not something you wanna think about trying to hide whenever your having sex.
If I was married it wouldnt be an issue for me.

FYI, Mentor has a new implant currently in FDA trials at the moment, not available yet but should be eventually, they are silicon gel called the mentor semi solid. I am gonna get the mentor saline filled until the semi solid comes out then getting an upgrade.

Bigger market for dogs I guess, more demand there is for something the more money there is to improve it.

And it can be done under spinal aswell, I duno why it cant be done under local though, so stupid, I think some urologists do it under local.

Just out of curiosity, how much does an implant cost? I'm married and I doubt I would ever get one but it is interesting.

                    Robert,

I have been around....Scott finished his radiation yesterday...GAINING 3 pounds...which is wonderful because he weighs all of 130 pounds which is why I was so worried about weight loss and radiation. My son is still having problems and it seems that we absolutely cannot get seen at Vandy until the 23rd of this month. His new pediatrician thinks this is all pointing to MS...I am praying that it isn't of course. I just don't feel like I can take much more.

Another womans point of view on the matter, but I can not tell that my husband only has one testie. For me personally it feels no different during sex (TMI) or any other relations we have with each other.

In my (Eastern Europe) country, the price is about 500 US dollars per one implant. It is the silicone one from Mentor. I asked my Doc about those saline-filled ones, but he said they are not available in our part of the world. He also says he is not going to get them sutured, so they will float around. I still have to make a decision whether to get 1 or 2.

Actually, Cliff Kline is no longer involved with the study as Mentor's Urology division was acquired by a company called Coloplast sometime last year. Regarding the trial, it's complete and Coloplast plans to submit to the FDA in June 2007, with hopes of having the soft-solid implant available by Dec 07 or Jan 08. For more information, you can contact Jennifer Englund, Director of Clinical Research, Surgical Urology Coloplast Corp at 800-788-0293 ext. 4183. Hope that helps.

Well, I think that every NORMAL woman/girl wants to have children one day, so when the relationship begins and it is not so serious and deep yet, realizing that "man with no testicles = no children" might be an obstacle for the girl. Yes, it might be interesting for her, but that is where it might end. Just interesting.
