  • Football (Soccer) after TC - just taken a low blow!

    Hi all,

Just a quick question (going to phone my doc tomorrow also to set my mind at ease) -

Diagnosed with Stage 1 high risk teratoma in Aug 05, no spread, markers normal after surgery, had 2 cycles of BEP and everything been fine since then (touchwood).

Just had a 3-monthly check-up 2 days ago, all ok, although obviously my blood and x-rays will not have been checked yet but fingers crossed!

My question - Just back from playing football this afternoon, during which I took a hit to the testicle area with the ball, from close range, quite painful at the time but no more painful than it normally would be! No pain now, had a quick self-examination and all seems normal.

Is this something I should be concerned about? All the docs I asked told me there was no problem in returning to playing football - although maybe I could have protected that area more!

    Any comments appreciated.

You should be fine... no pain or swelling, then everything sounds fine. You might want to masturbate or examine your semen after sex (for any signs of hematospermia...blood in the semen ) . If I play soccer (I haven't yet, since my operation) I definitely plan to wear a cup. I know a guy who lost a testical playing rugby (got his ball squished by a big pacific islander's cleat) so accidents can and will happen. He went on to have 3 kids with his survivor, but he had a spare... most of us don't!
Detected mass 10-6-06, Radical left I/O 10-10-06, Stage I seminoma, 1.5 cm primary, No LV invasion, No Rete Testis Invasion... Currently on Surveillance.
