    only the biological mother

During a conversation with a friend, she referred to one of the people in her children's lives as "only the biological mother." At first it caught my attention in a big way and then a bigger way. I smiled. She has raised two adopted children and she has helped me to understand that the mechanics of the body are big and important, but it is only one spoke on the wheel! There are many people and children in the race. The disappointments can be great, opening the heart is greater. She is amazing!! It is not an easy ride! The best to you! Russell's Mom, Sharon

    Welcome ob1!
Another woman chiming in. So I assume the radiation was on the carcinoma in situ area on the remaining testicle? Have you been tested to see if you are producing sperm?

I've been blessed with a daughter, but I would imagine that coming to grips with infertility when you want kids is difficult. As Margaret said, being alive and well is what matters most...and building a family can still happen in other ways.

    ob1...welcome...fun screen name....

I know that many men here can help you with your feelings about fertility. Speaking from a woman's point of view...I care for my husband and I would have loved the idea of having kids once he was done with treatment, but I love him and I am just happy he is okay. There are so many other ways to have children in your life and if you are with or find a loving partner, I am sure you will find ways together to complete your lives. I am not sure if it helps to hear from a woman, since I can not feel what you are going through.

I hope you find the support here that you need. We will all try and help anyway that we can.

    Margaret

    Double whammy!

    Hi everyone,

Just found this site (wish I'd found it sooner) and was wondering if anyone can help out?

I was diagnosed at the start of this year with Stage 1 serenoma in one testicle, which has been removed and also carsenoma in situ in the other testicle leading to me being infertile. I under went Chemo and am finishing radiotherapy soon.

I feel like I could deal with the cancer alone but am struggling to come to come to terms with being infertile because of it.

Is there anyone out there whose in the same position or does anyone know of any useful websites etc to help me. I need some help to get me on the mend!

Many thanks and good luck to everyone whose affected by cancer!
May the force be with you!
