Karen, I am embarrassed to admit that when Chris has any tests, I wait about a week to call..thinking if they haven't called, it must be alright...I know it sounds rdiculous...I assume it would have been sent by now from Sloan...I will be calling next week to find out...thanks for concern Karen...I am a coward when it comes to these tests and I admit it...talk to you soon...Mary Ellen

Thanks all..Jane, you are so right...even though it has been two years for our boys...that feeling just never goes away....I hate that when I look at Chris...I sometimes fear something could be wrong...instead of looking at a healthy 22 year old who should never be sick at this age...I just hate the waiting...my mind just races with crazy thoughts ...thanks Jane, you have always been there for me...much love and happiness to Josh!Mary Ellen

you can request a disc for yourself at our hospital but usually the doc will request a disc and get a written report. when we went to indy in april i took a copy of the latest scans/reports and x-rays. the disc/report i took in july could not be opened by either dr. foster or dr. einhorn as they couldnt beleive the report which said all normal. still went ahead with surgery (rplnd) the next day. the week after i got home we went to hospital and requested another disc no charge, and sent to indy of which they could open that one.

Originally posted by MRMRSUSo please pardon the newbie question I'm about to ask, but is it recommended that a patient request these CD's of the radiology films? I feel so backwards and silly for not knowing that you could even request that. Here I was thinking that the written reports were all I needed. Would love feedback on this.
It's a good habit to request the CD with films soon after they are taken. To request them, the patient needs to make the request in writing with a signature, and in most cases, this should be free. You usually get the CD in the mail within a few days.

This is fairly standard...comparison...
Once I rec'd a voicemail sunday night, last labor day weekend...at 12:20am....from the hospital...a few days after my bloodwork, scans, xray...
I saw the number that had called - the hospital...heart racing...dialed voice mail...the docs assistant went on about apologizing for leaving a message so late...but was working and just wanted to let me know....all was fine...
I'm sure your son is fine...just hospitals doing their job to compare all results.

HI MARY ELLEN
I KNOW CHRIS'S SCANS ARE AOK. DOES IT EVER STOP THOUGH. I'M SURE HE IS HEALTHY AS EVER. JOSH HAD BLOOD DRAWN ON THURS. WILL CALL ON MONDAY FOR RESULTS. ALTHOUGH THE FEELING OF CANCER IS GONE IT IS NEVER FORGOTTEN. AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT WE FEAR EVERY ACHE AND PAIN. IT'S WEIRD BUT LOOKING BACK (more than 2 years ago) I WILL NEVER FORGET HOW I FELT FOR THOSE MONTHS. THOSE 4 MONTHS. IT WILL BE FOREVER IN MY MEMORY SOMETHING I WILL NEVER FORGET.
JOSH IS HEALTHY AND DOING GREAT! STILL STRUGLING WITH HIS HAIR REGROWTH BUT WILL TAKE THAT AND DEAL WITH IT CUZ HE'S HEATHLTY!!!
BEST WISHES AND PRAYERS ALWAYS MY DEAR FRIEND.
JANE

Hi all...I guess it is probably a good idea to have a CD so you don't go thru what we are right now...I am kind of shocked Sloan charges 30.00 and our local hospital last year sent it to Sloan for nothing..but whatever..small cost to just get it here....I am just wondering if anyone out there knows how long they think it will take to get here to our local center....thanks....Mary Ellen

Hi Maria, I actually get a copy of the CD for all Jon's CT Scans or any other tests. I keep a copy in our house just in case it is needed by someone in the future. Our hospital doesn't charge anything and it takes about 5 minutes, so very easy for us!

Mary Ellen...still thinking happy thoughts for Chris. I hope you hear soon, keeping fingers and toes crossed for an all-clear. Much love from Cali!
