Congrats man. I know I owe you a beer (sigh) - several now - and I have not been on AOL IM. Traveling a ton. I wish you the best of luck and I hope Butler is treating you well. Send over a PM sometime and let me know how goes it...I have not been working in Parsippany for over a year now.

      Take care!

We owe each other a couple of beers, man! I still remember that we both had our i/os on the same day, at the same time and in the same state. What is up with NJ?

I'm working over in Fairfield now. Butler is growing fast -- when we moved there 3 years ago, it was nothing but trees and mountains. Now, they've blasted the mountains to make way for Wal-Mart, Target, Lowes, Home Depot, Chilis, Applebees, Sports Authority, Pier 1, Linens and Things and Bed Bath and Beyond (right next door to each other, of course).

        I hated those mountains anyway!

Time sure does fly! Hope all is well!

Congrats! Stay away from the internet!!! I just recently (okay not so recent anymore; 3months ago) gave birth to our second daughter (1st daughter post surgery/chemo). It has been an amazing experience. We did do Fertility treatments and the old fashionway. We had been trying for 3 years when it finally happen. I actually found out I was pregnant one the anniversary date of when we heard my husband was in Remission. It totally kicked butt. The internet will make you scared. As long as your wife as a great doctor and is on top of things and makes you feel comfortable, then I would not stress tomuch about it.

Thanks for the advice -- it's much appreciated! And it appears to be true. We read stuff, and then we panic, so we read some more, and then we get more panicky. Tomorrow we will go for an ultrasound -- it's the 6 week point, so all we will see is a little sac, but it should still be pretty cool.

But, yeah, for TC related stuff, the internet and this site especially are awesome -- but for this maternity stuff, it's stressing us out!

            Thanks again!

Went for an ultrasound this morning. We reckon that it's about day 40 since the beginning of the last cycle. Gestational sac is visible, but no visible yolk sac yet. Dr. says that it could be too early or it could be a sign of a bad egg. Blood results will be back later and they will give some additional insight.

If the counts of whichever hormones increase, it's a good sign -- but she'll need another U/S on Monday to get a clearer picture.

This is almost as nerve-wracking as my TC experience, with the exception of the fact that now I find myself rooting for this tiny little spot on the ultrasound!

Some bad news, I'm afraid. The blood tests do not show an increase in progesterone and one of the key hormones (which is supposed to essentially double every day -- not coming to mind right now).

They presecribed some progesterone for my wife to take, but it's usually a sign of an early miscarriage. I guess it might be a sign of progress that we got this far, but it's still another one of those potholes on the road of life. A real downer.

I'll keep you posted, but at this point we believe we are back at square one.

The hormone is actually hCG, the same thing that serves as a TC tumor marker. I had 2 early miscarriages before I had a pregnancy that stuck, so I know how stressful the ultrasounds and waiting for the blood results can be. I'm hoping for the best for you and your wife, take care of each other.

There might be some hope. Dr. confirmed that my wife misheard her HCG levels from 10/12.

She thought it was 791 on 10/12 but it was 79.1. (we called her dr. for more clarification).

Yesterday (10/19), it was at 695, or almost 9 times higher.

The ultrasound on 10/19 showed a gestational sac but they could not make out a yolk sac. It either might not be there or it could have been too early to see.

So, we're trying not to get our hopes up, but the Dr. said more information is needed -- and prescribed progesterone supplements for my wife.

                            Hey dude,

6 weeks might be too early to look. After my wife's pregnancy test showed positive, she got an U/S at 6 weeks, and nothing was found (and we were both a wreck, since she had miscarried several months prior). She got another ultrasound a couple of weeks later, and a heartbeat was found. As in every case, the waiting sucks, but hopefully a the end of the wait you will receive good news. Hang in there.

Sending loads of good thoughts and prayers your way....the HCG levels certainly look promising and 6 weeks seems really early to see something with an ultrasound. Please let us know how the next appointment goes!!!!

Yeah, we're gonna go out and shop and see a movie and just try to keep ourselves busy. Because we are under the care of a fertility clinic, they start with the u/s in the 6th week. by my calculations, it was the 40th day since her last period so it technically was not 6 weeks yet. Something was on the U/S but they couldn't make out anything inside the sac.

Her progesterone went down a bit but it was still within an acceptable range, so I guess we won't know anything else until next week.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers!
