    Mary Ellen:
It’s normal for the readings to fluctuate. It really is nothing to worry about. In fact Jason’s have been up the last 2 visits. Just try and relax, if it makes you feel any better we can not worry about our kids together.
Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

Treated by Dr. Rakowski of Midland Park, NJ. Visited Sloan Kettering for protocol advice. RPLND done at Sloan Kettering.

i recently had all my test results sent to me and there were some jumps in my levels but were all in the "normal range" and soon after those jumps they would reside back to the lower end of the scale. i guess these could be altered by other things the day my blood work was taken but i have a check-up and scans on the 19th and i'm gonna ask why these do this. try not to let it bother you, things will be good!!

          Hi MaryEllen,
Worry, that's my world anymore. I know your anxiety. Josh's blood work once was 4.2 then 2.1. and 1.1. His nurse said it's normal for it to go up and down. Hope that helps. Josh goes in next week for blood and CT's .....
          Take it easy...

One more voice in the chorus: some fluctuation is to be expected. No need for worry.

Everybody's different, but I don't even ask what the specific AFP number is anymore. I just want to know it's in the "normal" range.

                    Hi Mary Ellen:

My levels always bounced around too. I have no idea why.
But my doctor was never concerned.

Try not to worry too much.

                        Markers

This is definitely funny! I ask the same questions about my husband's bloodwork every month. I told them I didn't want anything to be slowly going up and then suddenly we are out of that magic "normal range". Since finishing chemo in July his haven't even been enough to register is what she tells me. We always laugh when I ask her about this and she knows now to tell me the exact numbers. We are very patiently awaiting the test and x-ray results from yesterday . . .ticktickticktick. It doesn't seem to matter what the relationship is we are all in the same boat together. Good to know that we are all pulling those oars forward with our sons, spouses and friends. Take Care Ms. Mary Ellen. April
