  • Hernia, Vasectomy, Hydrocele etc BEFORE tc?

    Hello Everyone,

If you are a survivor of TC what medical condition or procedure did you have before TC that you feel might possibly have been connected?

In my case I had an inguinal hernia repair surgery, with mesh inserted, on the same side where I developed TC a few years later.

Right side orchiectomy, March 2001, 4.5 cm tumor with probable vascular invasion. Chose surveillance.

9.5 cm groinal lymph node tumor found in Dec. 2001

Finished chemo (cisplatin/etopicide) in March 2002.

Two healthy daughters born naturally after chemo, one in January 2004, another in November 2006.

    Continued remission to present

My husband had an undecended testicle and inguinal hernia at birth, my son had neither. My husband had a very low sperm count which rendered him sterile, however, as we know, it only takes one and one took. When our son banked sperm, the quantity, motility and quality of sperm was excellent. Even though we had been assured that TC was not genetic, the doctors now feel in our case, it was genetic. My husband had a text book case, my son did not. My husband had three tumors, seminoma, EC and teratoma. My son had EC and teratoma. My husband was 35 when diagnosed, my son was 30. There are no easy answers. Dianne
      Spouse: I/O 8/80; embryonal, seminoma, teratoma; RPLND 9/80 - no reoccurrence - HRT 8/80; bladder cancer 11/97; reoccurrence: 4X
Son: I/O 11/04; embryonal, teratoma; VI; 3XBEP; relapse 5/08; RPLND 6/18/08 - path: mature teratoma
