  • allergy to androgel

Hello, Im new here. Im 21 with bi lateral testicular. I just had my lymph nodes removed 3 weeks ago as we as remaining testicle (There was a possibility of saving some of the testicle with brand new surgical techniques, but did not work) . I started androgel a few weeks ago and have noticed mild hives on various parts of my body. Anyone experience something similar?

    Hi Steve:

I use Testim (although one month I got Androgel by mistake) and have not had any unusual allergic reactions.

You should definitely call your doctor, If you are allergic to some component of the Androgel, your reactions could keep getting worse every time you're exposed to it.

    Best wishes,

ive been on androgel for about a month and no problems. i have sensitive skin to washing detergent perfumes and fabric softners which started a couple of years before being diagnosed. i think i'm gonna try and use regular deteregents because i'm wondering if low testosterone was a factor. i am a chef and have always had "wet hands" and a few years back i started having hand exzema(not sure on spelling), really bad cracking and small blisters under the skin.....very much irratating. since my HRT my hands have almost cleared up with hardly ever any problems. i guess this doesnt help your case but i just wanted to share with you something that i'm dealing with. you may just be allergic to something in the gel. you may need to try others or just see if it gets worst. it may just take some time for the body to adjust. hope this helps. I understand how frustrating this can be! many thoughts and prayers, brian!

        Steve,
After a hive bout I had a few years ago (not due to testosterone gel, obviously ) I keep benadryl liquid or ready-dissoves tabs on hand in case of a severe reaction in the future with my airway closing up.... Godd luck finding the cause and clearing it up!
