  • Finally i begin androgel today

Finally after many months of tests and discusions my doctor finally prescribed me Androgel. Since my number were in a kind of grey zone my doctor was not sure.

This little box is so expensive. I hope that this hole in my finances will help to resolve my following problems.

1-A few years ago, the simple fact of seeing a beautiful woman with the stripped shoulders brought an erection to me. Now my wife must help me a little to obtain the same result. Is it the forty's or my lack of testosterone which reduces my sexual drive?

2-Since 4 or 5 years I have problem to lose weight even by eating little. And this problem is still worse since the chemo. My doctor said to me that this could probably help me because the androgel transforms fat into muscle.

3-Another of my symptoms is the lack of concentration(at work and at home).

4-Since chemo my beard is still growing very slowly.

5-And i am feeling sometime very anxioux and depressive.

Then I would like that a veteran of androgel tell me if I really will solve or decrease these problems.

    Thank you
    Eric

Do you remember what your levels were?

Do you remember what your levels were for total T, free T, estrogen, LH, and so on. Hopefully your doctor provided you with those numbers. It would be helpfull if you wanted to share those with us.
There's no question that you have many of the symptoms of androgen deficiency, I'm just really curious what your numbers were. I'm really glad you've been prescribed T gel. I believe you will benefit greatly physically, emotionally and mentally. Put your gel on after showering if possible, and over time you may want to periodically shave your upper back, shoulders and upper arms, as these areas might gradually begin to get a little hairy if you apply the gel there every day. They did for me anyway. Shaving those areas will just enhance the absorbtion a little because the hair isn't in the way. Other than that, be thankful you have a physician willing to provide TRT for you. I hope he is commited to this, and will check your PSA, estrogen, total T, free T, etc every 6 months and prescribe Arimidex if your estrogen creeps up. Did he say where he wanted your total T and free T levels to be? Good luck man, keep us updated. Stitch

As far as your question about

"I would like a veteran of androgel to tell me if it really will solve or decrease these problems"
My answer to that is an emphatic YES. I'm just not sure how long it will take for a complete reversal of your symptoms, however. One thing you might experience (this is what happened to me, and it's not uncommon), is that you will gradually feel better and better in the first 3-4 weeks, then start to go back the other way and have your symptoms begin to return. You might get very discouraged with your TRT and wonder what the heck is going on. That's when it's important to have a good doctor who is commited to your T-replacement treatment and knows what he/she is doing. What is most likely happening at that point is that your body is converting a high percentage of the T into estrogen. Your T levels are now good, but your estrogen, (which for men should be under 20), has risen dramatically (mine was 80!), to counteract all the benefits of the T. No worries, though, if you have a good doctor, who will suspect this, do some blood work, and prescribe Arimidex to get that estrogen below 20. THAT'S when you will see and feel dramatic improvement. In my case I felt like a dead man coming back to life. I'm now 43 and I swear, I feel absolutely beyond awesome in every way. That's why it breaks my heart when I have to read about all these androgen-deficient men whose "doctors" deny them TRT for no valid reason. I don't want to see that happen to anyone the way it happened to me for years. I'm exited and happy for you. Keep us updated. God Bless-Stitch

I don't have the report with me but i can tell that i was at 350(i don't remember the units). Doctor said to me that below 400 we are considered at low T but they have the right to treat only below 300. But they now allow in quebec to treat peoples between 300 and 400 if they presents a lot of symptoms. Next time i will meet my doctor i will ask for a copy of the report.
By the way it is not so funny to go at the drugstore for this when the girl who served me is the friend of some of my neighbour I have always wanted to keep my problems between me and my wife
I will have to live with it. The most important today is to be alive

Thank you stich for the info and give a good kiss to lilo for me

Eric, my husband has been on TRT since 1980. Testosterone replacement has come a long way. He is also on Androgel and it has by far been the best TRT for him and the best delivery system. My husband's beard is thick and the Androgel has made him hairy also. It has helped his mood and energy and believe me, your wife will not have to help you along any more. She will be telling you to take a cold shower! Good luck, it is worth the price, maybe you can mail order it so you don't have to go to the local drugstore. I have noted that some guys don't like Androgel or that it doesn't work for them. Please post in a couple of weeks to tell us how you are doing.

            Glad to hear.
            To answer your questions:

1- Yes, and even more so if you lower your body fat %

2- If your doctor takes care of your estrogen IF needed then yes definetly especially if you start lifting at the gym.

            3- will definetly help.

4- Will help especially if your estrogen is in check.

5- You should start feeling much better.

The best advice I can give you is to go out and buy some ZMA, nutraplanet.com will be the cheapest place you can get it. This will help your prostate and libido.

I've been using Androgel for about a year now. I don't have any problems. Everything is 'normal'. I think it'll work well for you too.
