  • When do you check T levels?

    Hi Everyone,

Well, I'm still fairly strong in the gym, and my libido is as good as ever, but I'm still worried about low T. I have some weird fat accumulation, and my chest looks funny, but it could be because of my sporadic workouts. Also, I have some fatigue and muscle aches.

My uro gave me a script for a T-test a couple of months ago, and I haven't used it yet. I wanted to hit the gym some more before using it, but now I just want to do it. The question is, when is the best time for it? Is it first thing in the a.m.? or later in the day? Does diet affect it? Should I eat before the test?

    Regards,

    djm

The best time is 8am, but anywhere between 7am and 10am would do.

If IGF-1 is included in the test, then no gym for 48 hours before the test. food shouldnt affect the test unless glucose is tested but I fast anyway for good measure.
    Aged 23 ;; 09/06 left I/O ;; Markers normal ;; 100% Seminoma Stage 1. ;; 10x8x16mm & 7x7x8mm ;; rete testis invasion. ;; no vascular invasion. ;; surveillance. ;; HRT.

      djm,
As part of my annual physical two weeks ago, my GP ordered a T test, which was done in the a.m. as she requested. She did emphasize that the normal ranges are very broad and may vary from lab to lab, so keep that in mind if you go ahead with it. Hope things are going well with you,

MY uro never mentioned T-tests at all.......when I asked about a pre-I/O T-test, he told me it would be a waste of time and he would check it if there was a problem post-I/O......he is kinda a dick and very full of himself. Should I mandate that I get one?

Glad people are posting about this. Boyce has never had his T levels checked. He has noticed weight gain and he seems to get worn out easily.

My urologist had said the same thing pre-I/O. I had just asked my GP during my checkup whether she thought it would be a good idea to have it done, and she didn't have a problem with it. The only issue is that the baseline for this test is quite mobile (and like I said before, the "normal" range is very broad), so if you were to get a second test in the future, you would probably be better off using the same lab for consistency.
