  • 1st post Chemo test results

Well, I have got my 1st post chemo test results.

    AFP 2.0
    BHC 0.0
    Chest X-rays Normal

I am so relieved. My Oncologist is amazed at my progress. I have really no adverse side effects from the Chemo. No numbness in fingers or feet, no ringing in ears. Actually putting on weight, and blood work is all back to normal. I feel great, actually in better health than before all this happened. I am so fortunate, but I do have a ton of scarring from the Bleo. Little price to pay however. I just want to let others know that this is beatable, and it has been somewhat of a wake up call for me. I now have got a better perspective of life in general. Good luck to the others out there enduring treatments, and keep a positive attitude.
Diagnosed 7/5/05, Rt. I/O 7/29/05, Nonseminoma Stage IIa, Started 3XBEP 9/06/05 changed to 4XEP due to reaction from Bleomycin. Currently surveillance.

Very, very good news, Larry. My son moved this weekend. He and my husband were carrying a heavy TV up the stairs. All I could hear was my son huffing. I wondered if it was the bleo. He had a baseline pulmonary test before he started chemo and one just before the last cycle. The doctor stopped the last two bleo treatments because he thought the risk of lung impairment outweighed the benefit. Then again my husband who is almost twice his age is in shape and my son isn't. The bottom line is that he is 1 year past chemo with no reoccurrence. That will ultimately be your bottom line too. Thanks for posting. Dianne

        Great News, Larry!

        Larry,

See, didn't I tell ya? Sounds like we both are in pretty good shape, a little the worse for wear due to bleomycin (you have scarring, I have lung irritation). We have identical AFP and beta-HCG levels.

Please keep us informed about your progress. This is truly wonderful news!

        Surveillance since Nov. 2005
