  • Surgery incisions

Still waiting to start my radiation, but I've noticed something about my abdomen after having a left orchiectomy.

I have one 4 inch scar on the left of my lower abdomen. I've also noticed just today however (due to some pain) that there seems to have been another incision made above that one going straight up and down from just above my pubic area up to just below my belly button a little to the left. It feels like a scar underneath the skin. When I pull the skin tight, you can acutally see it. Note that I have not had other operations in this area, but did have an appendectomy years ago (which is on the right side).

    Any ideas about this?

I couldn't even begin to guess. When you see the doc for a follow up ask if he knows.
Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

Treated by Dr. Rakowski of Midland Park, NJ. Visited Sloan Kettering for protocol advice. RPLND done at Sloan Kettering.

I think I figured out what it is. It is where the spermatic cord was. I looked at some surgical diagrams about how this operation is done.
