  • Long term effects of CT scans

I am in my 19th month since Chemo and everything seems to be OK..

having CT scans Chest/abdo/Pelvis every three months, just wondering what the long term effects of having these scans done so often.

    Regards

    Ray

From my understanding your chances of a future cancers, caused by the scans, increases by less then 2%. As technology improves the scans will require less time and those increased odds will reduce. Kodak has a new film that is comming out this year which reduces the total scan time by about 60%.
Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

Treated by Dr. Rakowski of Midland Park, NJ. Visited Sloan Kettering for protocol advice. RPLND done at Sloan Kettering.

Yeah I've been curious about that too and have asked my doctors. They don't seem very worried about it.

I have my 3 month CT scan a week from this Friday. Wish me luck!

So far my monthly blood work and chest X-Rays have been great!

            laidback,
Good luck, appears the news should be good! Will keep my fingers crossed...but ya gotta let me know the results so I can uncross, 'cause they get all cramped . My husband's first follow up is May 12 and I'm anxious already !
