  • Ok to take aspirin with Chemo???

My husband is currently receiving 2BEP of chemo. He has a bad headache tonight. Unfortunately we don't have any Tylenol in the house. Do you think he could take an Excedrin? I can't remember if they told him to stay away from aspirin or not.

I was told to always take Tylenol for any aches and pains during chemo by the Oncology nurses. That doesn't mean you can't take aspirin that I know of, just that I was directed to take Tylenol.

Ok, well maybe I'll just have him take the Excedrin for tonight since it's so late and then tomorrow I will make sure to get some Tylenol in the house. Thanks!

Asprin or any blood thinners are not allowed at all according to the treatment my boyfriend received at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. I'm not 100% sure why, but he was offered Tylenol and although it's a boring medicine, it seemed to do the trick enough. Before his RPLND he still couldn't use any blood thinners. If you would like more information, let me know and I'll look into it. Good luck!

Yeah, going in for my 2nd round of BEP treatment the Nurse and Doctor told me not to take Aspirin because it lowers the blood count.I had a low blood count so they sent me home and i did the 2nd round the following week. I had no side affects at all from the Chemo except maybe an increased appetite .

You should avoid aspirin on blood thinners. Part of the reasoning is if you bruise yourself or hurt yourself, then your blood is too thin and cant' clot around the wound.
