  • Weight loss - is it back?

    Hello wonderful people,

I am still in Nicaragua. I actually have a blog: http://www.mobily.com

I have a question. My test was supposed to be due on the 15th of August. However, since I am traveling, the doctor agreed on postponing it to the 15th of September.

I feel great. And yes, it always gets hard towards the "deadline"...

I am trying not to freak out. However, I have lost considerable weight over the last 5 weeks. At least 6 Kg (13.5 lb). I was already quite skinny before that. I am now 68 Kg (155 lb), and I am 184 cm, that is like 6 ft 3.
I am eating good amounts of food. I do NOT feel fatigue, or anything like that. I have only gone for long-ish walks - no strenuous physical activities. It's just my weight, that is climbing down. My clothes now look stupid on me, and trousers that a month ago were a little tight now need a belt.

I am in Nicaragua, and have no access to a doctor.

Shall I just "not worry about it"? Or is this a worrying simptom?

    Bye,

    Merc.

Let's forget for a moment that you had cancer. Any unexplained weight loss should be investigated by a doctor. I would at a minimum call my doctor.
Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

      But I can't...

      Hello,

OK, good point. The problem is, I can't really see a doctor right now...

A possible "solution", maybe, would test my markers. But, that would would be useless, because 1) They might not be correct 2) I couldn't have two tests from the same lab (leaving Nicaragua in like a week) 3) There would be nothing I could do anyway.

It looks like I am stuck, doesn't it?

        Hi Merc,
Sorry you have worries while on holiday. Agree with dadmo that any unexplained weight loss needs to be looked into. Don't know what you travel plans are but I'd get to the doc as soon as you get back home and not wait until Sept 15. Take care Merc!

          Hello,

Well... it's weird. I am not really worried.
I wonder if I got used to it?

The trouble is, I get home on the 15th of September!

I will see if I can talk to a doctor while in Panama - Panama is definitely better than Italy, which is my next stop.

          THANK YOU!

          Bye,

          Merc.

Six weeks is a very long time to ignore that type of weight loss. If it should continue I would make a doctor’s visit a priority.

OK. Will organise a doctor in Panama.
              I'll keep you updated.

              Merc.

              P.S.
This thread will end up like this: "Oh, it was nothing, I'm just a fuss pot", and NOT "Gee, if I had known back then when I wrote that message...".
              CLEAR?

I certainly hope that we are just fuss pots.
