  • Getting nervous

Other half had CT scan last week, has got his first appointment with the Oncologist on Friday. The nurse rang him a while ago to tell him that he had a seminoma, but no further details. We had suspected this as his markers were all in the normal levels. But he is only 24 which I undertsand is a little unusual to have a seminoma in a younger person.

We are both getting nervous about friday, it seems like his life is in someone elses hands.

Hang in there and ask for copies of all reports and test results. Pure seminoma is more common in older men, but can occur at any age. I'm sure his prognisis will be excellent.

    Best wishes

Tho' much is taken, much abides; and though we are not now that strength which in old days moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are; one equal temper of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, but strong in will; to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

I know it's not easy to stay calm but take comfort from the fact that seminoma is very curable.

I just returned from the hospital where I had my monthly blood work and a chest x-ray...all part of my monthly surveillance routine. Now, I wait for the results. The point of this - waiting is tough. The best thing I can suggest is to spend time preparing for the appt with the oncologist. Bring lots of questions and if possible, go with your other 1/2, not only for support, but for taking notes.....men, have a unique ability to not always listen, sometimes selectively....wait, did I just say that?

Hang in there and let us know how things go on Friday.
