    What are symptoms of recurrence?

    HI all,
Had right testicle removed July 18 for pure seminoma.
    CT Scan was "clean"
Now I have mild pain bilaterally around kidneys I think (not sure where they are!)
My doc says he'll order a CT of Chest Abd and pelvis in a month for my first surveillence.
    So my questions are.
Where are the kidneys? And what pain would be considered a recurrence?
Why the Chest CT instead of chest x-ray, like my urologist ordered originally?
    THanks,
    -Alex

    Hi Alex:

Your kidneys typically sit close to the back wall of the abdomen with about 70% of the kidney above the level of the bottom of the rib cage. Seminoma tends to spread slowly, so if your scans were clean in July, it's unlikely that you would have a recurrence large enough to cause pain. But is it good to get scanned again just to make sure.

    Best wishes.
