  • No Live Cancer Cells Found!!!!!!

Well, after an orchiectomy, 3 cycles of BEP and an RPLND, I'm now in complete remission!! I know I can't say cure yet, given I've recently had cancer, but I feel as near to it as I can be.

Results of the RPLND were as follows. The 12 mm residual mass removed was all necrotic tissue. They did find a tiny amount of well differentiated teratoma in the centre of one other node which was completely encapsulated, and fully resected within a surgical margin. All other nodes were clean.

There'll be a few beers drunk tonight.

Thanks for everyone's support over the last few months.

    Davie
Diagnosed March 2006, Stage IIB, 3cm RP mass
10% Seminoma, 90% Non-Seminoma (Embryonal, and a tiny amount of choriocarcinoma and teratoma)
    Prechemo bHCG-2648, AFP-582
    3xBEP March-June, markers normalised
3 months postchemo - 1.2cm residual RP mass
RPLND September 2006 - mostly necrotic tissue plus tiny amount of well differentiated teratoma
June 2009 - TRT commenced to help out my lefty
    May 2011 - check-up, all clear

Congrats - I find out in November if I'll have to go through the same course of events as you, so fingers crossed my results would be as successful. Enjoy the beers

                  Hi Everyone,

I've not posted for a while. Guess I've been just trying to get on with my life, after what has been a challenging year to say the least.

I had a chest and abdomen CT scan and blood drawn a couple of days ago, and went into hospital for the results today. The CT scan was clear and the blood test normal. Without sounding too cornry, it is a great Christmas preasant. I've now been clear 7 months postchemotherapy.

Just going back 6 months ago, I would spend most of each and every day researching TC on the internet, and reading every back post on this forum. When I look back to that time, I realise I was searching for a cure - someone or something that was going to tell me I would survive this disease.

As is the nature of people, some leave the forum, and new joiners to the club take their place. Part of my emotional healing process is that I need to distant myself from TC, but will check in occasionally. In such a short time there are many new names that I don't recognise, and I notice that many people posting during my chemotherapy have also moved on.

I really appreciate the support I received from everyone on this site. You should not underestimate the power of a pat on the back, or a re-assuring word.

A merry Christmas and prosperous New Year to all - and for those going through treatment for this terrible disease over the festive period, my thoughts will be with you.

Hi to all. Just checking in after a period of normality returning to my life.

Time flies, and it's almost a year to the day since I finished my chemo, and about 9 months since I completed my postchemo RPLND.

Just got back from the hospital and the results from my latest bi-monthly bloodwork was normal . I'm now on tri-monthly schedule.

Once again, my thoughts are with anyone currently fighting this terrible disease, and best wish to you all on this site - especially Scott, Dadmo and other moderators who give up their time to provide so much educational and emotional support.
