  • UPDATE new to this whole thing path... report

I got my path report from urologist today...
    Left Testicle Seminoma
    No non-Seminoma elements are seen.
Adjacent tubules show intratubular germ cell neoplasia.
    no ext. into epididymis.
    no lymphovascular invasion identified.
adjacent normal tubules show decreased spermatogenesis.
the margins are negative for malignanc.

Overall the doc. was pleased with the report, told me this is good news, since its Stage one. I still havent gotten a copy of my bloodwork...He called an Oncologist to schedule an appointment for 2 weeks from now, and I have another appointment with this Urologist in three weeks. So i am doing surveillance, due to lack of spread and the tumor being entirely seminoma. any comments appreciated...Big weight off my shoulders though...pheww...

Sounds like all good news. Congratulations. You are probably cured, but do keep current with your follow-ups in the future.

Congratulations!! believe me that's good news...!! JUst don't forget to strictly follow your surveillance protocol because recurrences do occur even though there is no spread......(small probability though, a lot of people choose surveillance) my boyfriend's case was exactly like yours and he chose radiation, but again that is up to the person, just keep in mind that wahetever you choose You'll be just fine if you follow your check-ups...

well I met with my oncologist yesterday. The appointment was the best I've had since being diagnosed, he sat down, not sure if any of you have had this experience, but I always ask doctors to sit, but he sat down on his own . We talked about staging, my personal health background, my cancer and what teatments are availible. In the cat-scan report apparently there were some lymph nodes visible, which the radiologist and tech. said 'could' be cancerous, very vaguely, in the report. So my oncologist has scheduled a conference witht he radiologist, pathologist, and urologist on friday morning to discuss this result and get exact answers from the other doctors (this alone makes me love this doctor). He is then going to call U. of Indiana and give them my whole report, ask advice about how fruitful a PET scan would be and about treatment of the treatment of testicular cancer in a patient with Crohns disease. So all in all, a bit of a set-back seeing that Im not 100% go-ahead with surveillance , but its huge leaps forward as I am very comfortable with this doctor and he is very into putting me on his level with information and getting the best treatment.

                    Cameron:
I’m sorry everything didn’t come back clear but it sounds like you have a gem for a doctor. We had the same thing and it certainly helps you feel more confident in a cure. No matter what comes up just remember how curable this thing is, with proper treatment of course.

my doc spoke to Einhorn this morning after a conference about my Cat-scans...Einhorn says he considers this Cat-scan, that shows some lymph nodes, to be normal not pathological yet, and he recomends that I move to portland and do surveillance. He also has reffered me to a doctor Nichols(sic) in portland that he trained or worked with. So I am pretty much estatic at this point. I'll still be on the board, and thinking about everyone who is having a hard fight. For now it looks like I can get on with things just have to do routine cat-scans to catch any spread. thoughts go out to everyone, thanks for the help.

Dr. Craig Nichols is the oncologist that treated Lance Armstrong. Check out this link . He is also on the board of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. All in all I think I would be happy with him as my doctor.
