  • Single dose Carboplatin

My other half is due to have his chemo tomorrow. He has been told he'll need a week off work mainly in case of infection. What have other people done?

    Hi Englishgal,
With one round of carbo for seminoma my guess would be it depends on what he does at work and what his exposure would be. I know women treated with chemo for breast cancer that worked but were in offices where they could be "in seclusion" somewhat.

      English Gal,

I just finished my first of two rounds of Chemo w/ Carbo Platin. I had it on Monday the 9th and went back to work on Wednesday. I do have a sit down job at a desk in a call center, but my Dr. also told me about trying to keep away from big crowds and stuff like that due to increased vulnerability to infections/sickness, etc. I just make sure I have a hand sanitizer and small spray of lysol dissinfectant with me. Making sure to wash hands after bathroom, shaking hands, etc. Besides that, all is well so far(besides my first real nausea morning), but still working hard and doing my best, good luck and make sure to keep him cleaning his hands and stuff.
