well what did the doctors say? Is the pain caused by the infection, did they know the possible cause of infection?
back pain is a symptom of kidney infection.

he went to pass all sorts of other tests now..waiting for results.
but do you think it's linked to the radiation treatments or could it be the cancer's back already? he got treated over the summer..

Did he have diarrhea or stomach cramps? these are symptoms of bacteria imbalance in the intestines.
I doubt its caused by cancer returning.

Bladder infection can be caused from a bacteria imbalance wich can be caused from CT or RT, If the case, anti-biotics are the treatment, when taking anti-biotics you should also take probiotics, during and after the course of anti-biotics.

It can also be caused by a low immune system, or even a prostate problem, how is his renal function and FBC etc?

Has he already started on anti-biotics?
He can also take cranberry juice wich is good for bladder infections.
But dont start anything without consulting with his doctors.

Not everyone with a UTI has symptoms, but most people get at least some symptoms. These may include a frequent urge to urinate and a painful, burning feeling in the area of the bladder or urethra during urination. It is not unusual to feel bad all over—tired, shaky, washed out—and to feel pain even when not urinating. Often women feel an uncomfortable pressure above the pubic bone, and some men experience a fullness in the rectum. It is common for a person with a urinary infection to complain that, despite the urge to urinate, only a small amount of urine is passed. The urine itself may look milky or cloudy, even reddish if blood is present. Normally, a UTI does not cause fever if it is in the bladder or urethra. A fever may mean that the infection has reached the kidneys. Other symptoms of a kidney infection include pain in the back or side below the ribs, nausea, or vomiting.

Ok I see he is stage one on survalience, I was under the wrong impression when you said "cancer returning"

In that case, has he had a CT scan recently?

He just had big truama to that area so a urinary infection shouldnt be too surprising, for him to have it so close to surgery would indicate its most likely from surgery then a metasis.

I will spare the details but judging from my senses, for a week after surgery I am sure I coulda came close to a urinary infection myself.
