Testicular implant - sore?

I just got an orchietomy on monday and an implant. The implant is sore till today. How long is that supposed to be sore for? Just worried that there is an infection...

Tumor turned out to be non maglinant ... thank god.

Your lucky to of fallen into the 5% of suspected seminomas and probly 2% for all testicular tumours.

Is there any discoleration or swelling?
If there is discoleration it wouldnt hurt to goto an emergency department.

What's discoleration. I'm pretty new to this.(21 y.o only also). It's not very painful but its just there when u move.

How is the prosthetic testicle suspended? Could it be the suspension points that are still sore after the surgery? Sorry for the funny terms.

it would help to tell us what kind of implant you got, and where you are located. If it was in the US it's a mentor. Usually, they are attached with sutures, permanently to the inside of your scrotum. I believe that there is only one attachment point...

Congrats on being in the rare group that has a benign mass! It sucks to have lost a testicle to find out, but it is much better than the alternative! Curious, what did it turn out to be?

yes it is in the US. I do not know much about the tumor though. I'll paste a copy of the report here.

received in formalin is a testis with attached tunica and spermatic cord.
the weight of the entire specimen is 54grams.the testis measures 5.5 x 4.2 x 3.0 cm

the spermatic cord measures 7 cm in length and 1.2 cm in diameter

the outer surface of the tunica vaginalis is inked and the testis sectioned to reveal a well-defined, firm pearly white cyst with thick keratinous material in the lumen. the cyst measures 3.5x 3.0x 2.5 cm
the adjecent testicular parenchyma is finely granular and reveals no additional lesions. The spermatic cord reveals unremarkable blood vessels and vas deferens.


microscopic examination:
sections of the gorssly identified cyst show a benign epidermoid cyst
the cyst is lined by benign, keritinizing squamous epithelium, and the lumen shows laminated layers of keratin. no evidence of cytologic atypia is present. the surrounding testicular parenchyma is unremarkable and shows varying degrees of spermatogenesis. sections of the epididymis and spermatic cord are unremarkable. no malignancy.

so should the insides of my scrotum be sore? its 4 days post op

That's a HUGE cyst! Congrats on the benign... that is so rare... Yeah, I was sore for awhile without the implant. I also had a large hematoma which made it look like they didn't actually remove the testicle, so that probably caused some of the discomfort. Give it a couple weeks, but definitely see a doc if there are any signs of infection!

What are the signs of infection?
Did my testicle have to be removed at all? I'm starting to doubt it.
The doctor was a little quick on his judgement he said he was really sure it was cancer. 98% and recommended that I get it removed. Now that its a cyst... I'm starting to have second thoughts.

Did your doctor order an ultrasound? If the ultrasound could not rule out a cyst then he would more likely have to. If he ordered your testicle removed without an ultrasound result, then you should be p***ed.

Epidermoid cysts can be misleading. Still, if a cyst was suspected, then maybe greater care should have been taken, I don't know. You'll have to look at the ultrasound report and see exactly what it said.

there wasn't an ultrasound report... the doc just did an ultrasound himself and said it had to be removed...

Also, My scrotum is peeling (on the side where orchietomy was performed) what's happening??
