  • A bit paranoid, I know, but...

I apologize for posting this as I may come off a bit paranoid, but I was just wondering if this has happened to others.

Starting Friday of last week, I began to experience what seemed like very similar symptoms to what I had experienced the first go-round with T/C. By that, I mean a persistent dull ache coming from the area. Then, of course, I start examining myself every hour and seem to think that the remaining one's consistency was getting harder and that it was also swelling up a little. It really started to freak me out, so i didn't wait and made an appointment with my oncologist a.s.a.p. Yesterday, he examined me and I had blood drawn and had a testicular ultrasound performed. Both came back normal without any signs of any problems. The only item of note was a hydrocele. I wasn't really offered much in the way of an explanation in terms of what could be causing the symptoms. More just along the lines of wait it out, the symptoms will probably go away on their own, and contact us if things seem to worsen.

I'm hopeful that the feeling/ache down there will dissipate over the coming days, but I'm still driving myself a little crazy here. I got the results I wanted to get and I thank god for that. But theres still this lingering doubt in my mind. Has this happened to others? Is this just my mind/emotions playing tricks on me b.c. of what I've gone through the first time?

This is happening to me right now... I have some lower back pain that I had even before TC and there is a good reason to have it now (I know I stained my back exercising), yet it is hard to shake the feeling that it is a bone met in my lower lumbar region.

Up until last week I was getting pain in my survivor as well. My uro thought it was nothing to worry about, but suggested a US... never got it scheduled though, and the pain resolved on its own.

I think it's important to try to figure out our symptoms, but you could go crazy trying to do so with every little thing. In your case, I would be pretty confident that you are ok. A US is pretty definitive. Also, has your semen analysis improved after chemo? If so, this may be correlated to a decreased chance of a second TC in your survivor. If it hasn't, I wouldn't worry too much about it since chemo can leave you sterile or oligospermic, but if you had good counts post-orchiectomy but pre-chemo, that is good too.
Detected mass 10-6-06, Radical left I/O 10-10-06, Stage I seminoma, 1.5 cm primary, No LV invasion, No Rete Testis Invasion... Currently on Surveillance.

I certainly encourage everyone to ask their doctor about any symptoms, but the experience you describe is extremely common.
