I had my RPLND july 17 and have had some discomfort in my left hip. The Dr told me it may a little nerve damage but will go away.

    Leg Pain

I had my RPLND done at MSKCC by the master himself - Dr. Sheinfeld. I do have alot of aches and pains but those seem to be mostly concentrated around the incision/chest area and are fairly moderate. But certainly no leg pains. I'm not a doctor but it doesn't seem right to me - get it checked out.

    Regards,
    Steven

Yes I think it has something to do with blood flow, up until recently most focus was on the nerves, which hasn't yielded anything. The DVT is interesting becuase all my symptoms are similar to Atherosclerosis, but I am so young and active. Another thing I have been researching is a femoral nerve lesion.

    thanks

Like others have already posted, my first thought of concern is for DVT or blood clots. Maybe look up DVT and see if you fit any of the signs.

I had pain in the upperleft leg (it felt like a thigh strain) for about 4 months after my RPLND, it seems to have cleared itself now.

I had the RPLND procedure in November 07 and have not experienced any leg pain. Have you gone back to speak with Dr Foster to see if he can help diagnose the issue and rectify it? You have had it for 6 years now so it does not sound temporary - he may have some suggestions to address the pain.

    leg pain after RPLND

The leg pain has been my biggest issue after having a RPLND... I am 24 now, had the surgery in april of 02 with dr foster. Ever since my leg has had issues, I have numbness, hypersensitivity in places, lack of color, atrophied muscle, extreme cold sensitivity. A lot of the pain is in my low hip buttock area. EMG results show up normal for this leg, its getting worse as I get older, does anyone have any more experience with any of these symptoms ?

Thanks everyone. The surgeon (Dr. Foster) did tell us the pain would probably occur and that most of the guys he has operated on complained about it but it would eventually go away. He doesn't know what causes it. But it has been almost 7 weeks since the surgery so we were looking for some real world experience. Sounds like it happens and we just need to wait it out. Scott, I'll check out the archives in tc-net. Thanks!

My pain was in the lower back post RPLND. I would call the surgeon's office- they ofter times check for swelling in the legs after surgery, edema I think.
    Anyway, call em.
    Good luck

I found a couple posts in the TC-NET archives with similar complaints about leg pain after RPLND, but unfortunately no good explanation as to the cause or resolution.

Yes, my son also had leg pain after his RPLND, we actually took him for some type of scan to make sure it was not a blood clot.....but eventually it went away....hope that helps...Mary Ellen

Over the years we have had several people with pains after an RPLND. Most often it is because of a touched nerve or awkward position during the operation, these pains and pins and needles do fade with time. I would contact whoever did the operation and just mention it to them.

    Leg pain after RPLND

My husband's RPLND was 6 weeks ago and he still has pain throughout his left leg. It is worse when he is lying around...like at night when he is trying to sleep. In fact he hasn't slept a full night since the surgery. He describes it has two men one on his hip and one at his ankle and they are turning cranks that are tightening.

Has anyone had experience with this? Anything anyone can suggest?

    Thanks and Happy New Year!
