Just in case anyone was toying with the idea of sending our good friend, Danny, a letter of support or to share your story with him.
No pressure either way, but I did get a really wonderful letter for Danny this morning from Scott and I wanted to make sure I send out a reminder in case writing this young man may get "your" story out there for others to benefit from.
Danny is 20 years old, we met him at Slaon Kettering while my husband was there getting his RPLND. Danny has not responded as well as they hoped to the 4 rounds of chemo and they are putting him on something new. He has the same form of testicular cancer as my husband and I pray everyday that he will respond well to treatment. He and his family are so warm and loving.
I know he has been struggling over the past few weeks to maintain a positive outlook because he is in pain. I thought by sending him a care package, I could help put a smile on his face. So my husband and I both wrote him letters and my 7 year old son drew him a "get well soon" picture. I have included Scott's letter and I just wanted to make sure that no one else wanted to include a letter.
You can e-mail one to me at [email protected] and I will take care of printing it out and putting it in the care package. Writing him helped me unload some of the feelings I have been carrying around and my husband expressed the same.
No pressure either way, I am just glad to have found this site and all the wonderful people that make me realize that we were "blessed with cancer". It has not been a curse or a misfortune for us but a blessing of strength, fortitude, love, compassion, healing, and commitment.
Thanks,
Margaret
