  • I/O and scrotum issues

    Hi everyone,

Things have kinda begun to suck a little bit regarding my incision, and I want to know if this is all normal (since I've never been through this before). First of all, the underlying tissue under my incision is STILL hard. I feel like there is a fat pen sewn into my body wall. I can't press that area as deep as my right side either. Sometimes, I worry that I'm dealing with an inguinal metastasis. Also, although there is usually no pain, sometimes I'll get a sharp or a dull momentary pain in that area, and sometimes I'll feel pain in my lost testicle... almost like a phantom pain... it's really weird.

And my scrotum: I had been really happy with it, but now, after some fairly balmy January days up in the East coast, I notice that my survivor seems to 'hang' much lower than it used to. I'm not sure that it's not a optical illusion, but yes, like someone else said on a forum here: "it feels (looks) like I'm carrying an egg in a hefty bag". Is this common?

    Thanks for your replies

I would have expected the healing ridge to be feeling closer to normal by now, though I don't remember exactly how long it took for me. Everything else sounds pretty standard.

The problems with that scar ridge aren't that unusual, it may my take several months to get back to normal, but still mention it to you doc when you see him. The phantom pains are exactly that, they also will fade with time. As far as the survivor hanging lower, that's quite possible remember he is now the king of that domain and can hang out any damn place he fells like.

My scar is now almost 9 months old, and it is still a hard ridgeline - but in the last few months it has diminshed a lot. I used to get strange pains, but that too has gone along with any numbness. So, I think yours is probably coming along fine.

My remaining one doesn't seem to hang lower than before, but I do notice after a hot shower that the empty side hangs kind of saggy and it is quite sad looking.

          here is my 2 pennies

My scar is softer now but I also hd to pack mine for 2 additional weeks for it to heal that may be the reason for the softness I experience now.

My other nut is acting all kinds of weird; at least to me that is:

It goes up and down in size, with out being too graphic the size changes seems to coincide with sex, I got lucky with my other guy because he has an epididamil cyst (talk about an additional worry) oddly enough my pain has seemed to be pretty much gone, unless I think about it of course.

I think your post exactly described my situation that far out from my I/O - and that was with chemo. Hardness by the scar is only just about gone - started going 5 months post op - I'm assuming chemo slows your bodys recovery somewhat

And yes my remaining testicle hangs lower - I think there some change in the tissue that connects it to the body too caused by this.
All in all i think your normal!

djmac- I have phantom pain sometimes too. But I have more pain on my survivor side up in my inguinal area. I read someone here describe it as "pain in my spermatic cord" and I immediately thought that described my pain well. Now I have no idea if it actually is my cord, it just pulls and hurts kind of like I would imagine my spermatic cord would if it were pulled or inflamed.
As for my scrotum, its always tight like a drum! It seems my survivor is scared and always hiding now! (can't blame him) So at least yours hangs out where you can see him! Sometimes I feel like I have no survivor at all, kind of depressing.
My scar is hard too, and I know this to be normal. It will soften over many months/years.
djmac your just like me-thinking too damn much about it! Take some Ibuprophen to sleep if it helps and to get your mind off of it. And NO you dont have metastasis under your scar!

                Ah,

That's exactly how mine was for a couple of months... only recently did he start venturing out on his own .

I think its normal for it to go down in size during sex.
Hows the pain in the remaining?
