  • Lance Armstrong question

    Hi everyone!

Since meeting Danny at Slaon Kettering, my husband and I have been trying to lend as much support as possible. He is getting this new chemo that is making him so sick he has to stay at the hospital full time. He is so down right now and he keeps asking if Lance Armstrong could call him. A 30 second phone call would really help this young man keep fighting...so I called all the numbers at Lance Armstrong's mgt. group to see if that would be possible. I even offered to pay to make the call happen, but the woman was very curt with me and just said that he gets asked 100 times a day and it would be impossible. Since I am stubborn I guess I refuse to believe that anything is impossible. Does anyone here have any advice for me?

Also,my husband is doing so great 2 months post RPLND. He is acting like his old self again and back to work. His hair is coming back in except that all the ladies in his office keep telling him he looked better bald .

Thanks so much for writing me back. All great advice, thanks!

I knew Lance was very busy but I guess I just felt like it was the only thing Danny asked for so I wanted to make it happen for him. I feel very helpless watching him suffer and yet so blessed that my husband is doing so well. It is an unfair to have happen to anyone.

Hi Margaret, when my husband was sent for hdc he was pretty down. We had a friend of a friend connection who offered to send Lance a direct email to ask him to reach out to Jon. We never did hear from Lance and completely understand why - he does get a ton of requests. I don't remember how old Danny is but maybe giving him the Lance book? Tell Danny he is in our prayers.

Danny will be 20 at the end of this month. I spoke with his brother yesterday and they have gotten his HCG down to 30, which is wonderful. But the new chemo has taken his weight to 140 and he was at 180 when I saw him at Sloan and he still has two full rounds to go. They have all been through so much and I pray everyday that they will find a cure for him.
