Just to pile on, the pain in or around the surgical wound site is very common. If you exercise or work physically hard, it may also contribue to the soreness or pain. I run alot and found that after especially long training runs the muscles around the waist were sore when trying to get up from sitting or laying down. The pain should pass with time as the area continues to heal.
I totally agree... I just started working out again, and I can tell I'm a bit more sore in the area. Normal healing process, I guess.
Dj, I hope all goes well today with the labs and check-up. Best wishes,

Had my I/O om the 5th of May '06 and I still get the numbness on the odd occassion and definately a small shooting pain as well. The Onc and Urologist all say this is completely normal, and yes it takes time for the nerves to knit and network, so no worries mate!

I/O 05/06, 1x BEP 06/06. 2x EP 07/06-08/06, Surv until 02/07, RPLND booked for 15/02/07
I had shooting pains there for 2.5 months after. I remember reading somewhere that the shooting pain is a sign of the nerves recovering, it will defenetly go away eventually.
Back and knee pain I am putting my money on hormones.
Hey dude,
Although I'm not as far out of I/O as you are, I do get pains around there every now and then (like yesterday while I was cooped up at a symposium sitting down for about 10 hours listening to lectures). I also have the numbness you describe. Right now my only concern is my kid accidentally kicking me on the surgical scar as she has done twice already .
Try not to get too wound up. I imagine it is normal to be on edge right before a surveillance appointment (ask me in 2 weeks). I would just try to keep busy tomorrow. Go hang out with your fiancee and enjoy the day; the time should go by quicker.
After 3.5 months I'm still getting pain from the I/O wound. It's a bit numb if I rub it, but every once in awhile I get a brief shooting pain, usually when I stand up after sitting a long time. It's kind of freaking me out. Not to mention that I have back and knee pain that seem to get better when I exercise .
My CT scan is on Monday, so I'm wound up pretty tight right now.
