  • Post chemo CT Scan- All clear!!

    I had my CT Scan on Friday, then went to see Dr. Vaughn at PENN today- Great news! The tumor in my right lung has disappeared!
    I am officially all clear of cancer, and now on surveillance!

    The next step is to start getting into shape- it seems I have a bike ride coming up in August!

    Stage III. Embryonal Carcinoma, Mature Teratoma, Choriocarcinoma.
    Diagnosed 4/19/06, Right I/O 4/21/06, RPLND 6/21/06, 4xEP, All Clear 1/29/07, RPLND Incisional Hernia Surgery 11/24/08, Hydrocelectomy and Vasectomy 11/23/09.

    Co-survivor with husband Boyce, Diagnosed 7-11-06, orchiectomy right testicle on 7-12-06- Stage 3A: Mixed germ cell tumor with inguinal seminomatous and kartotypic carcinoma. One tumor over 10 cm, second tumor 4 cm, Chemo 4xBEP: Bi-lateral RPLND Dec 2006, nerve sparing but left sterile.
    Current DVT
    Current testosterone replacement therapy, Testim.

              L/O 12/20/06 Stage IIIA, 95% EC, 5% Yolk Sac
              4XEP 1/29-4/6/ 07
              AFP started increasing3 wks later
              Residual abdominal mass found on CT
              RPLND 6/8/07
              Cancer in pathology-
              80% mature teratoma, 20% Yolk Sac. --
              No adjuvent chemo and
              AFP normalised

              July 22, 2010 ---- 3 years all clear!

                You'll enjoy getting back in shape...you can really see progress, day by day.
                - lump first noticed 11/20/2005
                - I/O right Dec 8, 2005
                - 95% embryonal / 5% seminoma
                - normal markers PRE surgery
                - no vascular invasion, tunica free of cancer, epididymis free of cancer, lungs free, lymph free
                - Stage I diagnosis
                - surveillance
                - mid feb '06, beta hcg slightly elevated = 4.6...small enlarged lower node seen on CT scan...
                - 3BEP began feb 20, 2006
                - finished 3 BEP, last bleo, april 17, 2006
                - CT scan, blood markers, chest..all clear
                - back on surveillance

                    2/08 Recurrence 2xTIP (second TIP reduced dose)
                    1xHDC - Cardiotoxicity (no second BMT possilbe)
                    11/08 - Thoracic Surgery to remove tumor (dead cancer)
                    1/09 Scans Clear - AFP Rising
                    4/09 AFP 1600
                    4/09 Thoracic Surgery (again) found yolk sac & teratoma
                    7/09 AFP at 3! & CT Clear
                    2/10 Tumors in chest (again) likely teratoma
                    11/10 Starting Trial Drug!... actually did not start trial. tumors shrinking
                    10/12 AFP 29. Scans clear.

                      More Good News!

                      Hi All,
                      I just had my second post chemo CT Scan visit - I am still ALL CLEAR!
                      "Cancer Free" has such a nice ring in my already ringing ears!
                      And my next exam is going to be just a Chest Xray- I feel like I just took the training wheels off of my bike!
