  • Quick question...

I have an appointment with a radio onc on Monday. I've had an abdominal CT scan that was ordered by the Urologist, but not a chest x-ray or CT scan. I also have vascular invasion.

The wait is eating away at me, so here is the question: is it common for a seminoma to go to the lungs quite quick?

I dont have any lymph nodes in my abdomen that are too big. But I'm a little curious about it.
    1/12/07 - Diagnosed
    1/17/07 - Right I/O - Seminoma with vascular invasion. Dimensions 6.5 x 4.5 x 4.2 cm
    2/14/07 - 3/6/07 - Radiation therapy

Well on the abdominal CT scan that I've had already, the radiology report said that my lymph nodes were within normal limits in size.

But my Urologist didnt order any other images since the Onc was going to be doing that. So I know I'm going to get one. I was just curious if its possible for TC to be in the lungs when there are no apparent signs that it has spread to the lymph nodes in the abdomen.

Definitely talk about it with your doctor. When I was diagnosed, my urologist ordered a CT that included chest, abdomen, and pelvis - because of the what the ultrasound images showed him - fairly big size and the fact that the tumor looked like it had well-developed vascularity. For me the CT was clear, and we proceeded into RT - which is what it sounds like you are looking towards.

Anyway, your mass was larger than mine was, so you are definitely correct that you should question your doctors as to if more imaging is needed to make sure. I don't think seminoma typically skips the lymph nodes and goes to the lungs - but my urologist did tell me that it sometimes pops up in wierd places so it is probably best to be safe.

Good luck to you and keep us informed.
Right I/O 4/17/06, Seminoma Stage Ib
      RT (15 days) completed 6/1/06
      All clear as of 5/8/09

Got back a little while ago. Getting a chest CT, although the radio onc doesnt expect to see anything, for a complete pathology. And also a CT for simulation.

So I should be starting radio this coming up Monday, 17 treatments. The radio onc said I might get less. But so far everything looks good.
