prosthesis under local?

I had my surgery done with a spinal (I had an option) - but the Doc started to put me in a twilight right before he rolled me in for the spinal. I was starting to feel it - and the last thing I remember is them sticking the needle in my back. It just felt like a tiny pinch and didn't hurt at all to me, and then I zoned out. I must be really susceptible to the stuff in which my doc described as, "Valium's big brother." and that could have made my spinal much easier? They gave me the same stuff when they did my wisdom teeth and I just knock out cold..LOL. GOOD STUFF!

I'll always opt for a spinal for surgeries IF I have the option.

I'm also opting NOT to have a prosthetic put in.

They have one that is similar to Silimed but according to a Urologist/Cosmetic Surgeon I spoke to are as good but cheaper and in more sizes.

General is fun man,

You don't even realize your going under... and when you come out you feel great. At least I did... not groggy at all. If you're worried about dying, that's another story, but I was told that the chances of that are like 1 in half a million.

Why are you insisting on local? Was your I/O local (or spinal)? The reason I ask is that if you had general for your I/O and you survived, it's pretty likely that you will survive general again.

I had the I/O under a spinal, I asked for the prosthesis to be put in during the operation but the surgeon said it can ride high if its done during, its best done 3 months after the I/O and its a simple in office procedure!

So now I am being told its done under general is a bit of a shock, I cant see why it cant be done under local, I mean they can pull a tooth out under local but they cant cut a peice of skin and make a stitch? its not like im gonna crack a fat and knock the scalpel out of the surgeons hands geez.

It sucks getting a needle in your spine, its like sticking a needle in your own eyeball.
But I have had worse experiences with drugs so I still prefere that over a general.

I had general, followed by 'twilight' for two lithotripsy procedures within a month of my I/O. So last October was "Surgery Month" (Lithotripsies are considered surgery even though they don't actually cut you... they do a great deal of damage to your insides to the point where you are internally hemorrhaging and urinating bright red blood ). By my third procedure I must have been somewhat refractory to anaesthesia because I woke up while shockwaves were being shot into my back. I also had an SVT that they later told me about. Fun.

One doctor has told me no he wont do it under a local, so I want to hear from someone who has had it done under a local, or atleast someone tell me that someone on these boards did get theres under a local? They make them. If I had it to do over again, I wouldnt get it. makes absolutely no difference as far as appearance or anything else. If I didnt point it out, nobody would know. Just to chime in...my knee-jerk reaction was to get one, but after more research before my surgery I was on the fence. Then I had a really funny exchange with my surgeon right before they put me under "I don't want it" I told him.

I haven't regretted my decision one bit. Even I can't tell the difference most days. Well, in my case they removed a smaller, atrophic testis, so there wasn't much of a change. I'm definitely glad that my survivor has the crib all to himself now!

When my son went to the hospital to have the orchiectomy we asked the urologist about a prosthesis. He said my son could not get one, and no one makes them anymore.

I just went and saw my new urologist, he said he doesnt perform the surgery under local, only general or spinal, he also said its better to have it inserted through the inguinal canal as it sits better that way.
I defenetly want to get one but not sure how I should go about it.
I hate getting a spinal but would defenetly not get a general, He said another problem with local is you cant tell how it is going to sit?
