This is information about the urologist that diagnosed my son, and performed his orchiectomy. I have been looking for info about local doctors that have enough experiece to do the RPLND if my son should need it.

There are two links .. One gives pretty good background information about him, and the second one is info from his site about RPLND. There is a sample of dictation during RPLND at the bottom of the second link, if anyone is interested in reading it.

I called his office and asked the surgery boarding secretary how many times Dr. Bauer has done RPLND, and she said that in the 5 yrs that she has been working with him, she knows he has done at least 10.

She also said that if they felt they could not do his surgery they would send my son to U of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

(bottom of this first page there is another link that gives more detailed information about his background)

Our experience at U of M was wonderful. We had our second opinion there. Our oncologist here in Bowling Green, OH sent us to see a Dr. Smith who is an oncologist/urologist combined. He is truely an expert in his field. He was very thorough and did a great job of explaining pros and cons for all three options my son is facing. We did not choose to go with his opinion of surveillance for Chris but he made it clear that any decision was ultimately a good decision. Chris just can't handle the mental torture he calls surveillance and won't consider chemo unless he knows for sure he has active disease. We are going to the Cleveland Clinic hopefully for laproscopic RPLND. Dr. Smith did give us the option to see a Dr. Wolf in the Brighton area who does nothing but minimally invasive surgeries via laproscopy but Cleveland is more familiar to us. Good luck with your options all which will lead to cure, thank God.
