  • Tumor Markers

My son went to his oncologist appointment today.

His HCG is now 5 (down from 714 on his last visit feb.5)

AFP is 28.4 ... I don't know what the last one was because they do not have record of this. Apparently the doctor has not tested this for some reason. I brought it up to him before.. he fumbled through my sons chart
and is now including it in the blood testing.

So we will have this one to compare with the next one at least.

(I do think the urologist has a record of AFP though)

Either way it looks like the chemo is doing what it is supposed to do. Two more rounds of chemo to go.

    Son Anthony DX 12/11/06
    L/O 12/20/06 Stage IIIA, 95% EC, 5% Yolk Sac
    4XEP 1/29-4/6/ 07
    AFP started increasing3 wks later
Residual abdominal mass found on CT
    RPLND 6/8/07
    Cancer in pathology-
    80% mature teratoma, 20% Yolk Sac. --
    No adjuvent chemo and
    AFP normalised

    July 22, 2010 ---- 3 years all clear!

Yeah! That is wonderful to hear.

And yes, I bet the urologist has the AFP, though he should have shared them with the oncologist.

Hope your son's next two rounds go smoothly.
