  • Sperm Counts/Banking

    Hi all,

I've been banking sperm since December. My first deposit was a bit on the low side (~24 million motile/mL...1.5 mL...~60% motility), after 4 days abstinence. This was less than 3 months after I/O so I attributed it to the surgery as my Uro had indicated. Still, the andrologist thought it was pretty good "for a TC survivor". My second one in January yielded ~40 million motile/mL, 2.2 mL with 77% motility, over 80 million motile sperm! The guy was downright shocked. This was after 3.5 days of abstinence.

This outing yielded numbers similar to my first. I'm concerned that they are dropping due to CIS or 2nd TC. One thing to note is that I did have sex twice on Sunday because I forgot about this appointment, and it was a nice weekend. So I only had 2 days abstinence. Can that drop my levels that much??? Anyone have any insight?

They'll probably call me in for another visit .

I think an additional day or 2 of abstinence could make a difference in your counts. By the way, my understanding is that either count you mentioned is fine if you ever need to use it for IVF.

Actually, I'm hoping that either count would be fine if I want to achieve pregnancy without assistance!

Sorry, I totally misunderstood the direction of your posts -- my understanding is that both of your counts are in the normal range, so you should be fine trying naturally, but if you even find yourself making a withdrawal at the sperm bank for any reason, your frozen one will work too.
