Some of you may recall that we recently switched my sons primary doctor because of problems we had with him. Well, I have to say that the primary doctors that accept this county health insurance have made a very bad impression on us.
For starters the list of primarys that accept the insurance is very small and you simply have to select one from the list and deal with what you get. Well ...

The new doctor did not give a good impression either. The doctors office was dirty, the staff was rude, and the doctor did not spend more than 2 minutes with my son and part of that was to ask him about his health insurance.

My son met this doctor one time only and that was on March 8th this year. When we left I vowed to do everything I can to get him on medicaid because these doctors are a public health hazard themselves.

To put the mustard on the hotdog, the new doctors office called this morning and asked me to wake my son because they needed to speak to him.

When I heard my son repeat "hepatitis B"? I stopped what I was doing and felt like I was going to collapse.

After they told him this news they put him on hold for the longest time .. while he was on hold I said .. Anthony, did they tell you that you have hepatitis b? and he said YES.

A few minutes later the woman came back to the phone and said it was an error. She apologized and hung up!!

My son is now concerned that he may have it even though she said it was an error. I told him, Anthony, with all the blood work your oncologist does all the time I am sure they would know if you had hepatitis B. But I am not 100% sure of this myself, and Im wondering how they could pull my sons chart and make a mistake like that unless they seen something????

We will bring this up at the oncologist appt. on wednesday.

Like were not dealing with enough already now this!

This issue is something I will definitely bring up when I go to DC for LiveSTRONG Day, and I'm sure Scott will concur with me on this one. Being from Massachusetts, it is likely I will be meeting with Senator Ted Kennedy, who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Labor, Education and Pensions, so this is the perfect scenario to bring this up. I will initiate a thread elsewhere in the Forum so people can place comments on this issue. That way, we can bring them up to members of Congress during our meetings.

Excellent! I'll look for the new thread.

I realize it may be late, but I'd suggest asking the nurses in your oncologists office who they would recommend. Maybe bring them the list of doctors you can choose from. Nurses always seem to know who the good doctors are.
