As Chris's post said...we leave Sunday for Cleveland for his L-RPLND. I will have plenty of updates for you and hopefully the good news that he is clean as a whistle. We know the surveillance afterward is still very important but the success of the surgery will really boost our confidence that odds are that Chris is really cured! Wish us luck and a speedy post-op recovery!

thinking of you
Will be thinking of you! I wish now, that I would have relaxed more then....but how can you when there is so much going on. Hold on, ride the wave. Russell had his RPLND Jan 29. There have been a few bumps in the road...he was on high dose steroids through the surgery and they did the 7 1/2 hour surgery on room air because of Bleomycin toxicity. After the fact he told me that he went snowboarding 3 1/2 weeks post-op and recently I had not heard from him for about 6 days. Finally today he phone...has taken himself back to work and is doing great. Hopefully you will be wondering why Chris is not calling too! These strong young men, amazing what they have to offer!! take care, Russell's mom, Sharon

Marge:
You guys will be in my thoughts. I know you have some tense days ahead but soon you will be able to relax. They should do a frozen section during the LRPLND which will give a good indication if any treatment is needed but you still will need to wait for the full path report which should take about a week. Then just breath in and breath out and you will be able to move on.Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.
Treated by Dr. Rakowski of Midland Park, NJ. Visited Sloan Kettering for protocol advice. RPLND done at Sloan Kettering.

You and Chris will definitely be in my prayers Monday and in the days ahead. Hopefully all will go smoothly and his recovery will be quick. Do keep everyone posted. I am especially anxious to hear of any advice you may have after the fact. My son, David, will undergo RPLND surgery on the 27th of this month. The doctors can tell you what to expect somewhat, but it's not the same as hearing from "real people" who have actually been through it.
All the best to you,
Amy

Home already!
Checked in Sunday Morning at 6:00 AM, checked out Monday Night at 7:30 PM. The surgery went fantastic. Almost out-patient. We'll get Path reports back next week sometime. I'm feeling well, and have had the outstanding care of my Mom and Girlfriend for the last coupe days. Thanks to everyone for the kind words and thoughts.

happy for you
Excellent!!!!! There have been plenty of stories of doctors messing up. There are plenty of great stories too. When I stop to think about what these surgeons are doing and their talent to help it is just amazing, not to mention your strong healthy body that they got a peek at. I can almost see you smiling face! Take care, Russell's Mom, Sharon
