We got Boyce's blood work back

I have to tell you...even though I have sat and watched his blood being drawn 100 times, I still get nervous waiting on the results. It has been 9 months since he first was told he had tc...and it has been 4 months since his bi-RPLND. The anxiety has gotten a little better, every time the blood work returns and it is good news, it helps build my confidence.

His AFP was 2.1 and his HCG was >.2

His AFP has moved between 4.1 and 2.1...which I assume is normal. They tell me it will never be zero.

Also the HCG last time was >.5 and they told me that>.7 was normal range. So I was concerned because .5 and .7 are pretty close. So does that mean that .8 is above normal and reason for concern?

I am feeling pretty good over all about how things are going and I just hope that he does not have to endure more cancer as he gets older. I kept asking them not to scan him so much because I knew that was not good for him. They explained to me that one scan was equal to 100 x-rays. Yikes. I also noticed a small area on his skin that looked funny to me and he just said it was nothing and that I need to "stop looking for cancer on me". I am watching him like a hawk!

He got many blood clots from his port in his chest, (no one here seems to mention if their port gave them problems) but he is on a business trip right now...flying cross country... and it looks like he is doing fine. He has been on blood thinners for about 5 months.

Thanks for letting me share my happy news.

    Margaret
