  • [testicle implants] silicone gel filled or highly polymerised silicone one?

    Hi,
I've lost one of my testicles a couple of years ago.
Now I have to choose an appropriate implant to replace the missing testicle.

The only option in my country are Silimed Polytech's implants.

"They are available in two different variations, both with a smooth surface to avoid tissue ingrowth:

    1) silicone gel filled type

    2) highly polymerised silicone type.

The silicone gel filled type does have a fixation pad at the top end of the implant. The other type consists of a highly polymerised silicone with a reinforcement at the top end that also allows fixation. Both available in different sizes allows to find the most suitable replacement for the individual patient"

Silimed says that the major difference between the two types is their concistency.
I really do not have any idea which one will be better. And that's my question. Has anyone of you any experience with Silimed's products? Which one of the two types should be more like a natural testicle?

The gel filled one might be a bit softer but I'm worring abut the gel filling...

    Any thoughts?

    Greetings from Eastern Europe
    Robert

The silicon-gel filled one would feel more real, if you are worried about it leaking you could get it replaced every 5-10 years. Although I dont even know if its a myth or fact about silicon causing all these problems or not.

          .

          1. difference of how you feel the implant
          2. repeated surgeries to minimize the possible complications [infections, silicone leakage in blood etc]
          3. disconfort in some usual movements

The silicon filled one should feel real enough, the multiple surgeries, are only every 10 years or so to minimize leakage. how many experience discomfort?
I have found a good urologist who has done it many times before to do mine.

              .

I've read a lot of subjects who are regreting their decision. 70-80% are unsatisfied. And for what such an effort ? You can bealive me : girls dont realize it and no one will ask you to make photos in that area
After IO I where a big fan of implant surgery. After the shock has passed I realize that I can live perfect normaly just how I am. The perspective of a new surgery for so little advatages is no attractive at all for me.
              ...just my point of view..

70-80% from that site where people posted there experiences yea?
I dont think that is accurate because people who are happy with the results wont be as likely to post, its like this forum here, going by figures on this forum alone, it has higher recurance rates than what is published, for that same reason.

                  Thanks for your answers.

I just need to look and feel like it was before.

I've just received an email form the Polytech-Silimed.
The silicone-gel type should be more like a natural testicle.
It is said that EACH type of implant should be replaced every 10 years. So probably I will take a risk an go for the soft, silicone-gel filled one.

The price of each implant is: ~250usd.
