Thanks Fed .. I feel pretty hopeful about the outcome of the surgery. It is even more encouraging to read posts like yours "the results are quite promising"

As soon as we know something I will most certainly let everyone here know too.

Sharon, torture is a very descriptive word for this. I urge anyone that is having RPLND to just put up with the dry mouth for a few extra days. My son was trembling in pain and seemed mentally out of it for awhile. He really thought he was going to die and at one point I heard him through labored breathing say .. mom can you do something
From that night on through when he started on fluids again I slept on the hard wood floor next to his bed.

I don't know if he had a rougher time or not, but he sure did have a lot of pain and violent vomiting after a day of drinking water and juice. He thought he was dying and I had to re-assure him that he wasn't.

I read your site and I'm glad to hear that you are on the mend as well. Is your appetite returning yet? Anthony's is gradually returning. He eat's, but small amounts at a time.

            He also lost weight.

During chemo he got up to around 184 and as of two days ago he is at 164. The nutritionist said he should weigh about 200 lbs. She gave him a list of things to help with that.

She told him to eat 6 times a day consisting of

High calorie/high protein, 2800 calories a day and try to get around 110 g. protein daily.

RIGHT! Thats A LOT OF FOOD!
Yeah...I felt the same way on my first day of water. It was too early so I had them put the NG tube back in. It was worth it because I felt better almost immediately.

I gained so much weight in the hospital from the fluids...close to 30 pounds (normally around 210). I can tell all that is gone now and I'm definitely below my normal weight. I don't have a scale...but I would venture I'm around 190-195 maybe.

My appetite is coming back slowly. I am eating a little more everyday. I had a couple hot dogs yesterday and that didn't sit well...must have been the processed food. Everything else has been good on the stomach, though. And thanks for the info regarding what to eat...I'm trying to eat more fruit, too...to help with the number 2s!
