  • Open RPLND scar

Hi everyone, My brother had his RPLND at the end of Dec. (06) yesterday when playing baseball he did a pretty good dive into home plate. Later that night he noticed about a half inch on the RPLND scar was bleeding. How is this possible for the scar to reopen 6 months later. Wondering if anyone has had a similar situation. It has since stopped bleeding and after work today he plans on seeing the doctor.

Might be just an abrasion wound, the scar tissue is pretty tender.
My scar has been itchy lately, and I'm a year out.

      yes it happens

Russells abdominal wounds opened and re-opened for about 4 months. part of the reason for him is because he was put onto high dose steroids. Back to the wound. Sometimes if there is a bit of the wound that has tissue below the skin coming up into the skin, the wound never heals just right. A little infection can do the same type of thing. The edges of the wound heal, kind of like a body piercing would do, then the wound staysvulnerable to open. There are wound specialists, (lots of people deal with wound healing problems. ) Ask you doctor to take a look at it, or refer him to a specialist. There are a lot of different things they can put into place for you. Take care, Russell's Mom, Sharon

Thanks for the replies, I can't believe it happens. Not sure of his outcome today, not even sure if he went to the doctors, but thanks again.
