    Anthony's AFP

    This is just a quick note to let you all know that Anthony's AFP is already down to 12.8

    I realize that it's not normal yet but I am ecstatic!

    His AFP normalized after first line chemo and then began to rise one month later.

    April 6 it was 3.6 or 3.8

    From early may it started rising; first 10.8 then 9.4 then at the end of may it was 53 and then on June 8 they drew blood while he was on the operating table and that was 93.

    Two weeks out of surgery and its already 12.8

    I didn't expect it to drop that far in such a short time.

    Im so geeked I could scream!

    Son Anthony DX 12/11/06
    L/O 12/20/06 Stage IIIA, 95% EC, 5% Yolk Sac
    4XEP 1/29-4/6/ 07
    AFP started increasing3 wks later
    Residual abdominal mass found on CT
    RPLND 6/8/07
    Cancer in pathology-
    80% mature teratoma, 20% Yolk Sac. --
    No adjuvent chemo and
    AFP normalised

    July 22, 2010 ---- 3 years all clear!

    Wonderful news! Congrats to both of you!
    4/26/07 - mass confirmed w/ no elevated markers
    4/27/07 - left I/O
    5/2/07 - Dx: 100% seminoma stage 1A
    Surveillance: CT/blood (6 month cycle)
    4/27/13 - 6 years cancer free!

      Co-survivor with husband Boyce, Diagnosed 7-11-06, orchiectomy right testicle on 7-12-06- Stage 3A: Mixed germ cell tumor with inguinal seminomatous and kartotypic carcinoma. One tumor over 10 cm, second tumor 4 cm, Chemo 4xBEP: Bi-lateral RPLND Dec 2006, nerve sparing but left sterile.
      Current DVT
      Current testosterone replacement therapy, Testim.

        Nothing but down... that's where it's supposed to go, and that's where it's going (I guess this applies to both the AFP and the cancer ). Great news!

            Oh is that what you were saying on the phone? LOL .. I told you I could barely hear you, so if I made any deals I wasn't aware of that

            Quite honestly Im sick to my stomach of waiting and being on the doctors schedule all the time. Waiting and waiting because the doctors said so is what got Anthony into trouble in the first place. A whole month after surgery to find out if his AFP is going down is unreasonable, and I had to know if it was heading down rather than up.

            Anthony's mood is more his normal self tonight too. He has his friend here and they are busy listening to music and playing video games; which is not unusual, but his mood is definitely much lighter tonight.

            Yep, it was worth it to get it checked

                    Right I\O 11/28/06 - 100% EC with vascular invasion - CT shows enlarged abdominal lymph node (30mm) and 12 small lung nodules (the bigger 13mm) - Chemo started 01/02/2007 - 4xBEP - end 03/22/2007 - 03/22/2007 tumor marker normal - 04/23/2007 CT shows two small lung nodules (3mm and 4 mm) and lymph node 12mm - 05/23/2007 tumoral marker normal - 06/06/07 CT is stable - 07/23/07 tumoral marker normal - 08/02/2007 CT-PET shows all clear - On surveillance from 08/04/07

                      Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

                      Treated by Dr. Rakowski of Midland Park, NJ. Visited Sloan Kettering for protocol advice. RPLND done at Sloan Kettering.

                        My thoughts this morning are with Danny and Michael. My prayers, and I know everyone else's are with Danny going into that operating room later today.

                          So happy to see the AFP going down. About 3 weeks after Jon's first surgery we had the AFP done at our local hospital - it had gone down to 15 or so. We emailed Dr. E the news and asked how happy we should be knowing it was not yet normal. It immediately responded that weren't should be happy we should be ecstatic! Jon carries that email with him! Congrats to you both and may you be ecstatic!

                            Good to hear that Lori! I am waiting for the latest results that were done at U of M on the 29th. I'm about to call them.
