  • swimming pools after RPLND

It seems like the doctor said something about pools on the day that Anthony was discharged from the hospital, but I don't remember for sure.

    Anyone have info about it?

Obviously not until the incision is healed, but is 4 weeks post RPLND considered healed enough for pools?

The skin is healed over, but I don't know about underlying tissues and if spending time in the water is ok yet?

I don't remember Jason having any restriction like that but I know constant moisture can soften tissue and belly flops would be the worst.
Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

Treated by Dr. Rakowski of Midland Park, NJ. Visited Sloan Kettering for protocol advice. RPLND done at Sloan Kettering.

      Lord, no belly flops!

It was the moisture/soft tissue that I was concerned about.

Tammy, I asked around on your behalf and I think he should be fine. No long exposure (like 2 hours in the water at a time), but other than that he should be okay.

          Hi

Regardless of the “official” restrictions, I think 4-5 weeks are still too early for such direct water contact. If try to swim and so on, the water pressure and released soft skin could cause you some troubles. Just wait a little bit.
However, this is my personal opinion.
